Summer break always seems to come around so quickly. One minute, you’re getting school supplies ready for the next year, juggling carpool and homework, and then next it’s all done again for another year. And then comes the fun of the summer. When your kids are off school, you often want to make sure that you’re able to keep them entertained, that they enjoy their time off, and also that they’re safe. But it’s often hard to make all three of those happen at once. One thing that you can control is their safety, so if you want to make sure your kids are protected during the summer, here’s what to do.

Wrap Them Up

When your kids are out playing in the garden or with their friends, you need to make sure that they’re going to be as safe as possible. So, if you know that they’re going outside to play on their bike or skateboard or inline skates, you need to make sure they’re all wrapped up. Be sure to put their protective gear on them, or make them know how important it is to put it on themselves, and you’ll rest assured that they’re covered.

Use Sunscreen

But then there’s also another kind of protection that you’re going to want to do. When it comes to the summer, we all know it’s important to keep out littles ones out of the sun, or at least wearing sunscreen when they are in the sun. So, when your kids go out in the garden, or you’re all out for the day, be sure to lather up the best sunscreen, and you’ll know that their skin is protected.

Top Them Up

You’re also going to want to make sure that their health is protected too. Now, this is probably something that you do all year round. But, it is important to make sure that their vitamin and mineral levels are topped up with the right supplements, just to make sure that they’re getting all of the nutrients they need. That way, you know their bodies are topped up, and they’re able to fight off germs.

Stay Stocked Up

You should also make sure that your home is stocked up when it comes to everything from medical dressing supplies to medicines and home remedies. When your kids are out on summer break, as much as you’d like to wrap them up in cotton wool, you can’t. So there is a chance that they may fall down and hurt themselves while outside playing – or even in the house. But when your supplies are stocked up, you know you’re prepared.

Be Strict

Finally, you’re also going to want to make sure that your kids are fully aware of your rules ahead of the summer break. If you want to ensure that they stay safe at all times, they need to be able to know that they’re aware of why your house rules are important. Staying within the garden boundaries and not talking to strangers may just be some of them, but your kids need to know why they have to stick to them.

Make Your Home A Secure One

If you’re worried about the security of your home, there are many things that you can do to ensure a safe environment

Social media

If you’ve just bought a new expensive gadget or maybe you’re getting ready to go away on holiday – don’t tell the whole world!

The same goes for calendars, don’t put them somewhere that can be seen through the window. Otherwise, it’s just asking for trouble.

Remove flyers from your door

If thieves are having a look around the next potential target, the build up of flyers outside your home will give them the impression that you’re away on holiday, which is perfect if someone is looking to break in and steal any valuables you may have.

So if you actually are away, ask a trusted neighbor to remove them for you.

Pets

A lot of people think it’s a good idea to advertise the fact that you have a dog at home, but it could actually work to their advantage instead of yours. Not only can pets be bribed with food, but burglars will know that you are less likely to use an alarm if you have an animal at home.

Windows

Try not to leave your windows easy to look through, by doing this you will prevent thieves from seeing the layout of your room, and also stops them from seeing any possible valuables.

Always make sure that windows are locked and are visible. Thieves hate to break glass because it makes a lot of noise and can cause unwanted injuries.

The garden

Don’t leave any tools out in your garden as these can easily be used to help break into your home.

Burglars will go through your bins too, so make sure there is nothing of value there either, especially letter with your personal information on. And if you install some home security cameras, you will most likely scare people away without having to do anything else.

Doors

Make sure you have the best locks for all your different types of doors. If you’re dealing with a professional thief, they will most likely know all the techniques to breaking into a lock within a few seconds. But by having the protection for each door, you will be making it a lot harder for them to get in.

It’s also a very good idea to fit a letterbox cage to your door; this means they won’t be able to put anything through in order to open the door from the inside.

Valuables

With a number of valuables out there nowadays, it’s no longer about finding the largest item within your house. Little things can end up paying off, maybe, even more, the a tv would, such as phones, laptops, jewelry and any other gadgets you treat yourself to.

The best areas to put your special things are in the loft. Thieves will avoid places like this because there is no escape route.

Don’t leave anything out that you don’t want to be taken – it really is that simple.

We have been blessed with two grandsons so far and one on the way. My daughter in law and daughter both breast feed. We feel in love with this nursing cover and car seat cover. As expensive as babies you get two items for one price with this cover. It is light weight enough to put it over the car seat to keep those bugs and sun off your little one, yet light and breathable enough to keep the baby from getting to hot.

This attaches securely to the car seat and is well made. It is safe enough to keep those bad germs off your baby when you do have to go out in public. When you are out and the baby needs to eat you can always transfer the car seat cover to a nursing cover. It is big enough to cover with out having to worry about flashing anything!

This would make an awesome baby gift for that new mom!! Check it out here:
