Cut out the drinks lids.

It seems that every week we are seeing scientists on the news explaining that the plastic we are tipping into the sea is having a dramatic, negative impact. And one of the biggest culprits is those lids and straws you get from your local fast food joints. There’s a simple solution – stop using them. Sip your soda from your cup, and you’ll be helping save a whole bunch of fish, sea creatures, and underwater fauna.

Reuse everything

It’s not hard to be mindful of the waste your home produces every week. After all, you already handle everything you throw in the trash – so it’s just a case of taking a mental note and making better decisions. The reality is that almost all trash we throw away can be reused, composted, fixed, or even sold. Get acquainted with your local recycling center, and start doing your bit.

Buy reused everything

Be honest – is there really any need to buy brand new everything? If you can start looking at the used market more often, you’ll be making that particular trend a lot stronger, meaning more people will sell or give away their old things rather than putting them into a landfill site. You’ll also save yourself a significant amount of money – so get started scouring your local thrift stores a lot more often than you do right now.

Keep your tires pumped

Driving a car is a necessary evil when you live in such a big and expansive country. And there is no getting around forking out for fuel as a result. However, by using tire pressure monitoring systems, you’ll find that you can reduce your consumption by a significant amount. Research suggests that underinflated tires are one of the biggest impactors on your car’s efficiency, and at any one time, half the car owners on the road will be driving with flats. Be in the other half.

Go paperless

Finally, set up all your bills to leave your bank automatically – just set and forget. Use recycled wrapping paper if you have to use it at all, and opt out of every direct mailing list to stop the flood of paper trash coming through your door every day. Not only will you help save the planet, but you’ll also lead a lot more contented life, too. Happy tweaking!

Are You Living In A Green Home?

A lot of us don’t think twice about how eco-friendly our humble abode is. After all, when we are busy bringing up our family, the environment is the last thing on our mind. But for the sake of future generations, we do need to think twice about our home. After all, we want our kids to live in a healthy world. Therefore, here are some things you can do to your humble abode to ensure you are living in a green home.

Time to change those lightbulbs

You might have been living with the same light bulbs for years. After all, we get into the habit of buying the same ones every time. But they might not be the best energy-efficient option for your home. And you might be using a ton of energy which will not only raise your bills but will also waste the world’s energy. Therefore, to ensure you are living in a green home, it’s time to change those lightbulbs to an eco-friendly option. You need to go around the property and fit eco-friendly LEDs. They might cost more to buy than traditional lights, but they can last a lot longer. And most importantly, they will save you wasting so much energy. Not only will this help the environment, but it will also help your bank balance too!

Look into switching to solar energy

A lot of people use electric or gas for their heating in the home. After all, it’s the most common ways to ensure your house is a heated paradise. But a lot of people end up wasting a ton of energy if they are using one of these options. After all, they tend to have the boiler on from day to night to keep the property warm. Therefore, to ensure you have a green home, you should consider switching to solar energy. It’s a lot more eco-friendly as it uses the sun to heat your home. In fact, you can look at this solar energy infographic to find out exactly how it works. And while it can be expensive to install, it’s hugely beneficial to the environment if you do install these on your property. After all, it will save a ton of energy every month. Moreover, it will save you a lot of money too if you go for these panels. After all, if you haven’t used all your energy, it can be sold back to the grid to earn you extra money. And ultimately when you come to sell, the house will be looked on more favorably!

Ensure you are recycling properly

It’s easy to fall into the trap of just sending everything to the trash can. But if you want to live in a green home, you do need to make an effort to recycle daily. After all, it will ensure you don’t contribute to the high amount of waste in the world if you do recycle. And it can mean that resources don’t get wasted. In fact, a lot of the items will be repurposed if you do recycle. Therefore, get a good two section bin which will make it easier to recycle at home. And then you can ensure the future is bright for the next generation.

And here are some other things you can do to make the world a better place!

Living Green Using Trolley Bags!! BergHOFF @trolleybagsusa

The older I get the more I realize I not only want to teach my grandkids how to be kind to the Earth we live in but also set an example on how to save our resources. Even small steps will make a big difference. I started taking my own bags to the grocery store to save from using plastic ones, I know this isn’t a big step but every little bit helps!

Since then I was introduced to the Trolley Bags. I love how easy to use and store these bags are. First, you roll them up when not in use and when you need them again you just roll them out and place them in the grocery cart. After your shopping is done you can separate them by simply pulling them apart. They are connected with velcro making it easy to separate them for the cashier.

They come in a variety of sizes to help cover all of your grocery shopping needs. I love having my refrigerated foods in one bag and personal items separated in another bag. There is nothing like getting home from the grocery store to find a refrigerated item stuck in the middle of a bag of personal items. I don’t have to stress how the “bagger” will separate my groceries anymore since it is done already. These really help make those dreaded shopping trips easier and more organized.

The Trolley Bag sets come in different sizes for light shoppers or heavy shoppers. They also offer different color sets. If you like the idea of green living you should check these out!
