How to REALLY take care of yourself when it all gets too much as a woman

How to REALLY take care of yourself when it all gets too much as a woman. Being a woman can come with an awful lot of pressure. You’re often the pillar of the home- the nurse, the counselor, the chef, and the chauffeur. That, along with being a supportive partner and a good employee can often feel like too much.

We live in a society that states that we can have it all. We can, but at what cost? When it comes to having it all, what has to give? Your happiness? Your health? Your mental capacity to cope with the complexities of life can be really damaged.

How can you cope with these pressures when life gets too much? Here are some ideas.

Bring Self-Care into Your Daily Ritual

When your day is committed to looking out for the needs of others, it can be easy to abandon yourself and disregard self-care rituals as part of your daily routine.

Even if it means getting out of bed a little earlier to make the time, make sure you get a hot shower to start your day refreshed. Brush your hair every day to keep it healthy and strong looking. And, if you enjoy wearing makeup, wear it to be kind to yourself, not to hide your appearance.

Self-care is imperative to your overall well-being.

Get a Health Check

Your physician can give you a good idea of how you’re really doing physically and mentally. Book yourself an appointment to get a health check. This way you can see if your stressful lifestyle is taking its toll on your physical health as well as your mental health.

If you experience pain, you may be prescribed painkillers to enable you to keep going with your daily life. Be sure to follow the correct precautions when taking these medications, as prescription pain meds can be extremely addictive and damaging to your health if not taken according to strict guidelines.

It’s common to experience addiction to these kinds of medication. If you’re concerned about your reliance on your medication, talk to your doctor about enrolling in a prescription drug addiction treatment program for women. This will take you through the necessary steps to take back control of your pain management.

Stay Hydrated and Well-nourished

You’ll often check that those in your care have had enough to eat and drink- it’s vital that you do the same. Your body is 75% water- keep it that way by drinking fresh water at regular intervals throughout the day.

Eat fresh fruit and vitamin-rich vegetables every day as part of each meal. Allow yourself treats once in a while- live and let live.

Invest in ‘Me’ time

We all know that we cannot pour from an empty cup. The woman who tries to be all things to all people is exactly the same.

Nobody is too busy to take the time to do things they enjoy. Watch that movie, read that book, and invest time in working out and catching up with that series.

Some things can wait. Of all of the important things in life- you are one of them.
