Can I Tailor my Rhinoplasty?

You’re intrigued by rhinoplasty. Maybe you don’t like the size, the shape, or the general positioning of your nose. Whatever may be the case, you’ve been stuck with it for a very long time, and now you’re ready to do something about it. Have you envisioned your nose to look a certain way? Thanks to plastic surgery, you can get your rhinoplasty operation tailored to meet your own needs.

Explain the Specific Changes you Want Made

You know there’s something about your nose you don’t like. However, it’s important to pinpoint what exactly that is, in order to have a better chance of obtaining the results you desire. With this in mind, you should bring out a mirror and closely observe the various attributes of your nose. While doing so, you can ask yourself if your nose looks either too big or too small. Also, you’ll want to take note of its overall shape, as well as its positioning in relation to the other features on your face. When you catch sight of your nose, does it look appealing? Is the tip of it either too sharp or not sharp enough?

Once you’ve given an answer to each one of these questions, you’ll be able to identify what it is about your nose that just isn’t doing it for you. This knowledge will help you explain to your surgeon how you want your nose to look after your rhinoplasty surgery is complete. It’ll give him a better understanding of what changes you want made, and he’ll be able to tailor your rhinoplasty surgery accordingly. Thus, you can be confident that your requests will be carried out as closely as possible.

Show Pictures to Your Surgeon

There’s another way you can get your rhinoplasty operation tailored to meet your needs. For this, you should browse through photos of different celebrities. While doing this, you’ll want to be on the lookout for famous people with nice, attractive noses. You should acquire as many photos of them as you can. However, you’ll want to make sure that each one is clear and easy to see. Preferably, there should be ones that show the nose from several, different angles. Front shots and side shots are two examples. Also, you can try to get your hands on photos that capture both the top and the bottom angles of the nose.

When you meet with your surgeon, you’ll want to go out of your way to show him these. You can tell him that you want your nose to look exactly like the famous person’s nose. If you want a slight variation, however, you can use the image to help you explain where the tweaking needs to take place. Showing your surgeon pictures of the nose you want is a terrific way for him to be able to visualize the result ahead of time and put the necessary work into the procedure to make it happen.

Consider Combined Surgery

Did you know you can get several issues taken care of at once, by getting two different surgeries performed together? For instance, a septoplasty may be performed alongside a rhinoplasty. A septoplasty procedure will treat an irregular septum. You may have been born with one of these. Maybe you experienced a physical injury that created this problem for you. Either way, a deviated septum makes it more difficult to breathe properly. Septoplasty will correct this nuisance and enable you to breathe normally. Combining this one with rhinoplasty will give you the added bonus of having your septum re-shaped, so you’ll no longer have to struggle to breathe.

Similarly, you can get a sinus surgery and rhinoplasty performed together. The former treats symptoms associated with sinus problems. These could include a stuffy nose, excessive facial pressure, and thick, discolored mucus. By having both of these procedures done at once, you’ll receive the benefits of cosmetic plastic surgery, and your sinus problems will be resolved. This will save you some time in the long run, since you won’t have to go back to get one of them done.

When it comes to rhinoplasty surgery, you certainly have options. The operation will be tailored to meet your personal goals, and this can be accomplished in a few different ways. You’ve waited long enough, haven’t you? It’s time to get the nose you want, so you can start feeling confident about your looks.

Essential Laser Resurfacing Aftercare Guide – What You Should Avoid

The battle against aging is one fought by millions and won by few. Throughout the past several decades, the calvary of cosmetic procedures has made incredible advancements. From innovative surgical options, to non-invasive treatments, we’ve never been closer to winning the greatest war humanity has ever fought, aging.

Perhaps the most powerful weapon in our arsenal is also the most advanced. Like something out of a science fiction novel, laser skin resurfacing harnesses the unique power of light to turn back the hands of time. Within every treatment session, years of skin damage is treated at the cellular level.

Unlike other topical anti-aging treatments, which work from the outside-in, laser resurfacing infiltrates the cellular battlefield. Capable of rejuvenating the underlying causes of visible aging and chronic skin conditions, such as rosacea and spider veins, it’s no wonder this treatment is among the most requested procedures in cosmetic dermatology.

The attraction of laser resurfacing isn’t just its mesmerizing results. Few cosmetic procedures produce such dynamic results in such a short amount of time with so little disruption to daily life.

While this treatment is the express train to skin restoration, it’s not completely effortless. The first several days after this procedure determine everything from healing duration to final results. Although you’ll receive explicit post-treatment care instructions from your cosmetic practitioner, let’s take a few moments and explore what products you should avoid after laser skin resurfacing.

What You’ll Experience After Treatment

As the saying goes, knowledge is power. To best prepare for post-treatment care, it’s important to understand what to expect. While your experience may differ based on treatment type, skin condition and biological responses to the lasers, the vast majority of patients experience several universal symptoms.

Raw (Inflamed) Skin Isolated Pain Itching Rare Side Effects

  • Raw (Inflamed) Skin – This is the most common treatment side effect. While the severity of skin inflammation depends on the size and scope of treatment, laser light beams only affect treated areas. Typically, surrounding tissue isn’t damaged or irritated.

  • Isolated Pain – Most patients describe the pain level similar to a noticeable sunburn. Pain is generally isolated to treatment areas. This sensation goes away little-by-little each day. However, improper post-treatment care can intensify and prolong this unsavory sensation.

  • Itching – You’ve likely felt the itch of skin healing at some point in life. As a wound heals, the natural restoration process often stimulates a mild to severe itching sensation. This side effect is common after a deep laser resurfacing. As with any wound, avoid scratching your face at all costs. Scratching not only hinders its final results, but bacteria underneath your nails can cause a serious infection.

  • Rare Side Effects – While not common, serious side effects are possible. If you have the herpes virus, the trauma from laser resurfacing can stimulate an outbreak. This is especially noted in areas where cold sores have previously erupted. Along with herpes reactivation, the risk of bacterial, fungal or viral infection is very real. Minimize this risk by explicitly following post-care instructions and avoiding the following skin products until fully healed.

The Essential Aftercare Guide – Products You Should Avoid

The days following laser resurfacing are just as important as treatment quality. Along with determining results, failure to gently care for treated areas increases your risk of potentially serious infections and other side effects.

To ensure a safe recovery, and the best results, avoid these common products until fully healed.

Items Washed With Scented Laundry Detergent

When you think about products you should avoid after laser resurfacing, you likely think of makeup, face washes and other topical creams. While we’ll discuss those momentarily, the most notorious culprit isn’t what you’d think.

Scented laundry detergent contains a vast array of chemicals and cleaning agents. While you may think these compounds are mostly washed away during the rinse cycle, think again. Harsh chemicals bury themselves in fabric, which pose a serious risk during the healing process.

Before treatment, rewash all pillowcases, sheets, clothing and towels in all-natural, unscented detergent. Never use towels, or other fabrics, to touch your face that haven’t been cleansed from standard detergent residue.

Tap Water

Because freshly treated areas commonly feel hot, much like a sunburn, you may think spritzing your face with water is a safe alternative to ointments and creams. Unfortunately, tap water is filled with various chemicals capable of causing further irritation.

Skip the tap water and cool your face with distilled or spring water. However, only apply fine mist of water during the first day after treatment. You don’t want to soak your skin as this can disrupt the delicate healing process that occurs during the first 24 hours.

Standard Face Washes or Soap

During the first three days, bathing or showering in hot water isn’t recommended as you need to minimize sweating during this crucial time. However, what about washing your face? Your cosmetic practitioner will inform you when you can start washing your face, but it’s generally recommended to avoid washing your face with or without cleansers for 12 to 24 hours.

For the first several days, you may be directed to avoid any non-natural face wash or soap. This includes astringents, benzoyl peroxide scrubs or prescription acne solutions.

Makeup of Any Kind

Avoid any type of makeup during the first several days following treatment. Natural mineral powder makeup may be used once the initial healing phase is complete. Because skin can remain red for several weeks, use a greenish hue makeup to help minimize visible redness.

Non-Approved Moisturizer

Skin hydration is essential during the healing process. However, don’t apply moisturizers until your doctor gives the okay. When appropriate, use a gentle ointment, such as Aquaphor.

Sunscreen of Any Variety

Sun exposure slows healing and may result in unsavory discoloration. Avoid direct sun exposure until the skin is no longer raw. Afterwards, use gentle sunscreens or mineral powder makeup to shield skin from harmful sunlight. When going outside, wear a hat and avoid direct sunlight as often as possible.

Understand Your Own Personal Style In The Next 10 Minutes

Some women love shopping for clothes, others hate it. The reason some women hate it, is usually down to the fact that they just don’t understand their personal style. When you don’t understand your personal style, you’ll find that a number of things happen. You’ll end up with clothes that you never wear. You’ll always feel like you don’t have anything to wear, even with a bunch of clothe staring back at you. You’ll spend ages getting dressed in the morning, only to be unhappy with the way you look! If any of these resonate with you, then it’s definitely time you understood your own personal style.

Once you understand your personal style you can save time and money shopping, and feel incredible in just about everything that you wear. By reading this guide, understanding your own personal style can take just 10 minutes! Read on to find out more:

Assess Your Wardrobe

Start by assessing your current wardrobe, and be vigilant. If you don’t wear items, put them in a pile to give to charity, to a friend, or to sell. However, don’t get rid of them until you’ve defined the reasons you don’t wear them. Did the material make you itch? Were they too small? Did the color wash you out? Once you know why you didn’t wear certain items, you can avoid making the same mistakes over again.

Don’t assess your wardrobe without looking at the clothing that you do wear. Look at the items you reach for the most, and figure out what it is that makes you reach for them. You can learn more than you probably realize by looking at and assessing your current wardrobe, so get started right now!

Find The Right Words To Define Your Style

Find the right words to define you, and your style. If you have to, then use the words that you would like to describe your future style, when you’ve finally sorted out your wardrobe! Are you a funky and comfy kind of person, somebody who likes to wear bright patterns and colors but ensures everything is comfortable and soft? Perhaps you’re a smart, bold, and tailored dresser, somebody who wears professional looking, well fitting clothing with a bit of an edge? Using around 3 words to help you define your style should help you when dressing and shopping. Ask yourself, does this item fit in with my definition? If not, don’t buy it as it’s unlikely you’ll wear it often!

Have A Clear Out And Make A List

Now that you’ve found things you don’t wear in your wardrobe, and things that don’t fit in with your new definition, you need to have a clear out. Remember, you shouldn’t feel anything less than amazing in the clothes you wear. This means that if you have a bunch of oversized t-shirts that you wear most days, but you feel rubbish in them, you should still get rid of them. What is it that makes you reach for these t-shirts – are they helping you to hide your shape? Wearing clothing for your body shape can help you to enhance your shape and camouflage in the right places.

Once your clear out is complete, make a list of the things you now need to include in your wardrobe. Do you need some great jeans or trousers? Perhaps you need some comfortable and stylish shoes from somewhere like Fill in the gaps of your wardrobe. Remember what we said earlier about feeling amazing in everything. You should now only bring items that you fall head over heels in love with into your wardrobe. This means you need to take your time and be honest with yourself about what you love to wear.

Create A Vision Board

A vision board is a great place to go to for inspiration. Create your own vision board using Pinterest, if you’d prefer an easy way to make one online, or grab a bunch of magazines and create one using these. When you make a vision board, you should be able to see clearly the items that make an appearance multiple times. Do you see patterns forming? If you do, this is a clear indication of the styles and items that you should try out.

Look For Your Signature Pieces

What would you consider to be your signature pieces in your wardrobe? Do you have a penchant for cool hats, great jackets, or tailored trousers? When you know what your signature pieces are, you can begin to play them up a little more in the way you put your outfits together.

Find ‘Your Colors’

You can wear as many or as few colors as you like. Perhaps you’re a person who prefers to dress in nothing but black. Perhaps you’re a person who likes to dress in all the colors of the rainbow. If you don’t know what colors suit you best yet, it’s time to find them! Do you prefer pastel tones, or jewel tones? Figure out the color family you prefer, and then work out which colors wash you out and which make you look healthy. Out of the colors that make you look healthy, pick the ones you like the best or those you feel best in. You can use these colors to create your own personal color palette within your wardrobe!

Build Up Your Jewelry Collection

Finally, build up your jewelry collection to complement your own personal style. Costume jewelry doesn’t have to look cheap, but it’s an affordable way of bringing your outfits to life and making them look better almost instantly. Whether you add layered necklaces, lots of bangles, rings, or the whole shebang, you can create entirely different looks using the jewelry that you like. Take your time building up your collection so you have plenty to reach for when getting dressed!

Do you understand your style a little better now? Do what the guide says and you should be able to make better choices when dressing and shopping almost instantly. Have fun!

As the holidays approach, I realize how precious my time is. My husband’s job requires traveling, business meetings and attending various parties. I want to make sure I look nice for these and maintain a young and fresh look as much as is possible, for a 50-year-old.

I began using the L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer a month ago and was so excited about the results. I love that it doesn’t have a strong scent since I have allergy issues. I can’t wait to see friends this year and see if they notice a difference. I feel like a new version of myself.

I have always loved the holidays but now that I am 50, I am even more excited to spend the holidays with family and friends! We are a close family and love taking pictures. Those grandkids grow up way too fast and I don’t want to miss a thing.

This year will be the first year all three of our grandsons will be old enough to really enjoy the Christmas holiday. We have a four, three and 1-year-old grandson. They are very active and rambunctious.

I began using the L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer about a month ago in hopes that I could keep looking like a young Mimi. What I didn’t realize is how great it would make me look and knowing how I look, how great it makes me feel.

This year celebrating the holidays with family, I won’t be afraid to smile and look at the camera when people are taking pictures. In fact, for the first time in my 50-year-old life, I am going to get head shots made. This is how great I feel using the L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer.

These Jewelry Care Tips Are Real Gems

If you wear jewelry of any kind, it’s often precious to you. As well as sometimes being expensive, jewelry can have a lot of sentimental meaning too. From weddings rings to the necklace you inherited from your grandma, you want your favorite pieces of jewelry to always be with you. That means you need to take care of them to guarantee they’re going to last a long time. There are some rules you could benefit from following if you want to protect your jewelry and make sure it stays in great condition. Here are some of the things you can do to extend the lifespan of your best pieces.

Keep Your Jewelry from Getting Tangled

Storing your jewelry properly is important, but a lot of people don’t pay it much attention. If you have a jewelry box full of tangled necklaces, bracelets and various other items, you’re guilty of this. It can be hard to keep everything separate, and you might have a lot of cheap pieces that you don’t care a whole lot about. However, if you want to keep your jewelry looking good and avoid having to untangle it every time you want to wear something, it’s worth storing it properly. You can use different ways to keep different types of jewelry and even make your own organizers. Hang up your necklaces, pair your earrings together, and put rings away in boxes or holders. Anything you have that came in a presentation box can be kept in the box.

Know How to Safely Store Your Jewelry

As well as organizing your jewelry so that it doesn’t get all tangled up, it’s a good idea to know how to store your jewelry without damaging it. For example, it’s usually recommended that you keep jewelry away from direct sunlight. Too much sun could affect the color or even warp the shape. Heat can also be dangerous for your jewelry, so keeping it somewhere cool and dark, if you can, makes sense. You should also try to avoid places where there might be sudden temperature changes. Keep your jewelry away from chemicals too – try not to hang your necklaces on your vanity, where you’re always spraying hairspray and perfume.

Get a Safe for Valuable Pieces

Some of your pieces of jewelry are more valuable than others, not just in monetary value but in what they mean to you. If you would be devastated if any of your jewelry went missing or was stolen, a safe can help you protect it. Contact to ask them about options for installing a safe in your home. You can make sure that you put away your jewelry in the safe whenever you’re not wearing it. It can be particularly useful to have if you, for example, take your wedding ring off a lot and need to make sure you put it somewhere safe. Of course, if you have expensive jewelry, making sure that it’s insured is also wise. It could be covered by your homeowner’s insurance, or you can take out extra insurance.

Learn How to Clean Different Materials

Keeping your jewelry clean is important. Dirt and grime can build up over time, but it happens slowly so you might not notice it until it’s really noticeable. You need to be careful when you clean jewelry because different materials and gemstones need to be treated differently. The first step is to know what your jewelry is made of so that you can make sure you use the right cleaning methods. No matter what it’s made of, though, taking a gentle approach is the best thing to do. Warm water and mild soap are often enough to clean metals and gemstones, using a soft brush. However, take extra care with soft stones that may scratch easily. A jewelry cleaning cloth can also be useful, especially for silver jewelry.

Be Careful with Ultrasonic Cleaners

Ultrasonic cleaners are often sold to clean jewelry and might look like a convenient option. They’re not too expensive, and they sound like a fancy way to clean jewelry and other items too. While they can be useful, they’re not suitable for all types of jewelry. There are a few things that should not be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner, such as natural materials like pearls and amber. Gems that are susceptible to heat shouldn’t be put in an ultrasonic cleaner, even if they have been treated. And if you have any particularly delicate jewelry, perhaps some old pieces, the vibration of the cleaner could dislodge gemstones and other parts.

Wearing Your Jewelry

Jewelry is meant to be worn, of course, and not just stored away. So you need to make sure you look after it while you’re wearing it, as well as when you’re not. Wearing your jewelry is actually good for silver pieces, as the oils from your skin can help to prevent it tarnishing. But you need to be cautious with most of your jewelry because perfume, hairspray, and other substances could damage it. It’s best to put your jewelry on last, so you don’t get any hair products, makeup or anything else on it. Know when it’s a good idea to take your jewelry off too, such as when you’re wearing rings, and you need to do something with your hands.

Help Your Jewelry Travel Well

If you love traveling, you probably want to take some jewelry with you, so you have something to wear while you’re out and about. Take care of your jewelry while you’re traveling too, especially if you don’t want to lose it. You can use appropriate boxes or other organizers to store your jewelry in your luggage. Make sure it’s covered by an insurance policy if it needs to be, whether that’s travel insurance or another policy. And be careful about when and where you choose to wear expensive jewelry and where you keep it when you’re not wearing it.

Take care of your jewelry, and it will last longer. If you have any pieces you love, they deserve to be treated well.

Why Is Insomnia So Rampant?

If you regularly have trouble getting enough good quality sleep to function properly, you are not alone. It is actually something of an epidemic at the moment, with people all over the world failing to sleep properly. The causes are varied and complex, but the stressful and hectic structure of our modern lives have something to do with it. We have got to a point where sleep is regarded as somehow inessential, and this inevitably leads to lifestyles which do not prioritize it in the way that it should be prioritized. If you are looking for some real solutions to the problem of sleeplessness, read on.

The Room

First things first, how well is your room set up for sleep? You need to make sure that space is comfortable enough to be able to sleep in for extended periods of time, and that there are as few distractions as possible. Actually controlling distractions can be hard or impossible, but you can instead wear a sleeping mask and choose right earplugs first. This will essentially block out distractions, making the quality of your sleep much better. You’ll also need to make sure that your bed is as comfortable as possible – an obvious point, but one which is worth repeating given the amount that people seem to overlook it.

The Routine

It’s worth taking a look at your evening routine, to check whether you could be doing anything more sensible in order to help you sleep. A good example of something you might want to change is if you find yourself looking at screens a lot in the evening. Using screens from tablets or smartphones or laptops can actually inhibit the production of melanin in the body, the chemical that is used to determine when it’s time to sleep. So overusing screens can mean that your body is unaware it is time to shut down. Consider limiting your screen use in the evenings if you want to sleep better. You might be amazed at what a difference this simple change can really make.

The Diet

Diet plays a huge role in all of this as well. There are a few particularly obvious things which you should look out for first. For instance, try to limit your caffeine intake as much as you can. The more the better, but at least avoid having any caffeine after midday if you can. Caffeine can affect your sleep for up to twelve hours after taking it, so this is important. Similarly, avoid alcohol. While it might feel as though alcohol helps you sleep, the truth is that it is more likely to cause you to wake up during the night. You should also try to generally get a good balance of fruit and vegetables, and not overdo it on the red meat if you want to sleep deeply and for longer.

The above three will ensure that you sleep much more effectively and for longer, so make sure you do not overlook these if you want to improve your quality of sleep fast.

Dealing With An Unruly Hound Without Pulling Your Hair Out

Most of us have an image in our minds of how we want our family to look. And for a lot of people that image is of them, their partner, their children, and a furry friend who rounds out the whole family perfectly. The addition of a dog who can help to make your life a whole lot more fun. They can bring huge amounts of joy and love into the lives of you and your family as well as give you the chance to offer a new lease of life to an animal that might not have had the best start in the world. But whether you’re getting a puppy or adopting an older dog, it’s important to remember that it’s not always going to be easy. Sure, in your mind you only see the best parts of living with a pet, but it’s important to remember that’s only half the picture. The other half can be seriously stressful as you attempt to deal with an unruly hound who’s determined to make as much of a mess of your home as possible and create huge amounts of stress in your life. With that in mind, here are a few ways that you can turn even the wildest pooch into a faithful and obedient companion.

Positive reinforcement

There are a lot of different schools of dog training out there, and for the most part, they each have their pros and cons. However, in recent years it’s been shown that if you really want to help your furry friend develop the skills and knowledge that you need from them, then positive reinforcement is the way to go. Previously, it was thought that a heavy hand when it came to discipline was the most effective training method but positive reinforcement can often have even better results as well as leaving your pooch feeling much happier and more comfortable. Make sure that you always have a decent amount of Betsy Farms real meat dog treats on hand so that when your dog does something good, you can reward them instantly. Over time your dog will begin to associate following your instructions with the positive feelings that they get when they’re munching on a treat, rather than the fear of any kind of punishment. It might take a little bit longer to train your dog this way, but it’s always better to train them in a way that keeps both you and them as happy as possible.

Whatever training method you choose, the most important thing is that you stick to it as much as possible. Changing the way that you train your dog from day to day is just going to leave them confused and you frustrated. Not only is it not going to have the kind of impact that you really want but it could also end undoing all the hard work that you’ve put in before. The last thing you want is to spend a huge amount of time training your dog one way, only to undo all of that work by teaching them something completely different the next day. It can be frustrating when it feels like the training is slow going and that’s when the temptation to change things up is going to be at its highest, but stick to the way you’ve been doing things, and you will start to see results sooner rather than later.

You have to be committed

Of course, that’s only going to happen if you’re actually willing to put in the kind of time and energy that’s really necessary to get the results that you want. If you’re taking a lazy, non-committal approach to training your dog, then don’t be surprised if it doesn’t really stick. It takes time to form habits and understanding, and dogs need that level of commitment from you in order to understand what they should be doing. Don’t assume that you only need to try a couple of simple things and then you can just get back to lazing around on the couch all day long!

Get the whole family involved

Of course, just because training your dog is hard work doesn’t mean that you have to do it all on your own. Why not get the whole family involved so that you spread the hard work across all of you. That way not only do you get a break every now and then but you can be sure that your furry friend’s training is totally consistent. After all, the last thing you want is to spend all of your time training them only to have well-meaning family members undo all of your hard work by spoiling the dog too much. Make sure that you and your family all understand the method that you’re using to train your pet as well as ensuring that you all spend an equal amount of time doing it so that no one ends up feeling like they’ve been short-changed. After all, you’re bringing in a new addition for the benefit of the whole family so it only makes sense that the whole family should chip in and help to train it. Of course, this is still going to take a fair amount of time, but it will almost certainly be a much faster and easier process if your whole family chips in and helps.

The truth is that owning a pet is a lot of hard work. Sure, the joy that they bring into your life can be worth it, but you need to consider if it’s a responsibility that you’re ready for. Not only do you need to make sure that you have the time and patience for training them, but you need to be sure that you can afford it as well. There are so many factors that go into figuring out if you’re ready to bring a furry addition into your home that you need to take a long time thinking about whether or not it’s actually the right decision for you and your family.

Ceramic Jar Set Review

Ceramic Jar Set

This navy handbag ceramic decorative jars set is one of the best gifts I have received. I am able to store so much in them. They started off in my bathroom with my makeup, but it became a little too small because I have a lot of makeup. After I realized it was too small for my makeup I turned it into a jewelry holder. I can show off this jar set to anyone who goes into my room because they are displayed on my dresser. These are hand painted which makes it so much more personal.

These jars have so many personal touches on the hand painting. This company really knows what they are doing with the decorations on these ceramic decorative jars. I love how universe these jars are. You do not just have to display them on your dresser, but you can display them on your desk at work or even in your living room with mints for you guest or candy during Halloween. The full-size jar measures about 9 ¼ inches in length and 6 ¼ inches in width by 8 inches tall. The smaller jar measures at 3 ¾ inches in length and 3 ¼ inches in width by 4 inches tall.

They are fully glazed which gives in a glossy finish that looks incredible in the sunlight. This set is great for any occasions being Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries or even wedding gifts. This navy handbag ceramic decorative jar set can be purchased for 24.99 and can be purchased as a navy or purple color.

Please tell me in the comments what you like about this ceramic jar set, it will not disappoint! #ad

Getting Ready for a Picture-Perfect Holiday

This year has been a big year for me, I turned the big “50,” I am a Mimi to three little boys, and I retired from teaching.

As the holidays quickly approach, I am working on my holiday tradition of finding matching PJ sets for my grandsons. I started it last year and thought it was so cute, I wanted to do it again this year. They loved it too, although I am not sure that the older they get, they will want to continue this tradition.

We are super close and spend a lot of time with our grands. One thing they know is Mimi loves to take pictures. Especially during the holidays.

While I was looking at last year’s PJ sets, I saw pictures of me and realized how much like a Mimi I looked. I decided I want a better version of myself, and I want to find something that will help me do just that!

I realized I needed help fighting my tired -face look, so I could look like a young Mimi! I found L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer and began using it. I love how lightweight it feels on my oily skin! For the first time, I have found something that doesn’t add to my oily skin.

I realized quickly it was exactly what I was looking for. My skin felt velvety and I looked less tired within a few days. I have always had an issue with moisturizers, since my skin is already so oily, usually leaving my skin feeling sticky. Not with L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer, it makes my skin feel fresh and soft.

People are now saying, “You look like a young Mimi.” I just smile and thank them. I am so grateful I have found a way to combat my aging and can spend the holidays worried about something other than how “old” I may look in the holiday pictures!

Having photo memories this year that I can be proud of will make these holidays extra special. I love the way my skin and face feel thanks to L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer. I have added it to my daily routine.

Depend® Silhouette Active Fit Briefs #OwnYourGreatness

This is sponsored content written by me in partnership with Depend®. All opinions are my own.

Depend® Silhouette Active Fit Brief is my secret lifesaver. I use them when I know running to the restroom quickly may not be an option. I notice the older I get, the quicker I need to make it before I have those dreadful “leaks”. Trying to plan events around a restroom was no fun. I would have to know prior to accepting invites if I would be close to a restroom.

I live in Rockport and after the hurricane, I had to make sure the store had a working bathroom before I could even go.

These are comfy and very thin, no one even knows you are wearing them. The appearance and feel of the panties help me to be confident in public. I can attend events with my grandsons and not have to worry about if a restroom is close by.  I am able to pay attention to the grandsons and not have to stress for the first time in a while.

I feel like I have regained my life and there is no stopping me now, I even started a new career, after 50. I am finally able to enjoy life without the stress of accidents. For the first time in over a year, I have been able to plan a no stress road trip with my husband, we are going sightseeing in the hill country and then traveling to Louisiana.

If you haven’t tried Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit® briefs and Depend® FIT-FLEX® underwear yet, now’s your chance! Now through the end of the year or while supplies last, you can get $2 off at Not only are these comfortable and a fit great, but they look and feel like real underwear while giving you the protection you need. QiPillow Orthopedic Pillow

Back problems seem to run in my family. We have just recently discovered the QiPillow and what a relief it has been for us!! This is an inflatable pillow that you inflate on your own so you can make a perfect match for your back.

What exactly does a QiPillow do??

Well, a QiPillow helps to improve sitting positions, it also helps improve comfort while sitting for long periods of time and reduces the risk of back aches and stiffness. This can be used at home, at work, in a car, on an airplane. It can be used in just about any place where you will be sitting for a long period of time, and since it is inflatable it is easy to store anywhere!

How to inflate the QiPillow?

You will want to unzip the zipper on the side for starters. After unzipping the zipper you will expose the adjustment valve, after exposing you will want to turn the cap counterclockwise to open the value. Once opened you will want to lift the cap up till you feel your fingers holding the weight of the pillow. Once your fingers are holding the weight of the pillow you will want to inflate the pillow with your mouth. One of the best things about this is you will be able to adjust to make a perfect match for your back. Once blown up, close the valve with the cap firmly.

Congratulations you have just inflated your first QiPillow!

I love using this and telling people about this product. I really hope you have found as much comfort and usage from your QiPillow! Please leave feedback in the comments on how you enjoy your QiPillow!

4 Ways Winter Does A Number On Your Life

Winter might be the season of goodwill and peace to all mankind, but it’s also a problematic time of year. The coldest months of the year tend to take their toll in a number of unexpected ways, and no matter how much you’re ready for the change, it still always manages to come as something as a shock.

At the moment, you’re probably still enjoying the benefits of fall and looking forward to Halloween and Thanksgiving. However, winter is lurking on the horizon, waiting to pounce and sew discord into your usually ordered life. If you generally follow the advice on Mom and More and always try to live a healthy and beneficial lifestyle, you might be surprised by how much winter can change your outlook and experience. While it’s likely you’re still going to find yourself pulled under winter’s spell, being aware of the areas of your life that might require a little more attention over the winter period could make all the difference for you this year.

Winter vs. Your Mental Health

Winter can take a real toll on your mental health. Even if you don’t have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), most of us have a tendency to react poorly to the lack of daylight and plummeting temperatures. Even during the busiest winter period, Christmas, try to take some time for yourself to ensure your mind is in good condition. Self-care and giving yourself a break can be key to this.

Winter vs. Your Motivation

We all tend to suffer from a lack of motivation in winter. It’s cold, the days are alarmingly short, and you’re not going to want to go outside for fear of frostbite. This can mean you spend a lot of time putting off tasks; there’s a reason why last-minute Christmas shopping is such a constant feature for most of us. Give yourself the time to work through a to-do list and don’t have any unreasonable expectations of yourself; slow and steady definitely wins the race on this one.

Winter vs. Your Eating Habits

A tendency to overeat during the winter months is not surprised; our bodies want more fat to help protect us from the cold. If you find yourself struggling with a seemingly ceaseless appetite, then add nuts into your diet. Nuts are a proven appetite suppressant, meaning that you will be able to maintain a healthy diet, and forgo the need for the traditional January weight-loss efforts.

Winter vs. Your Time Management

When the days are shorter, it can feel like you have less time– even though the number of hours in the “day” hasn’t changed. Time management during winter is all about perception; get yourself acclimatized to running errands in the dark, so the short days of winter are less of a shock to your system.

Thankfully, winter is not a time of nothing but misery, discomfort, and feeling out of sorts. There’s plenty of fun, glitter, and family excitement to see you through to spring. By keeping an eye on all of the aforementioned areas, you stand a good chance of getting through with a smile still on your face.

Make Yourself A Priority: Be Kind To Your Mind

As a busy woman; it’s often challenging thinking about your own wellbeing at all. You may have kids to consider, a career, a partner, and even a pet that seem to come before you in the pecking order. Juggling an array of tasks during daily life can be difficult, and by the time you’ve sorted out everyone else’s happiness; it’s time to go to bed then get up to do it all again the next day. However, by not making yourself a priority and neglecting your needs; you’ll soon suffer the effects of burnout and stress, and it will become even more of a challenge looking for anyone else.

The key to a successful life for many is regular time to relax, recharge, and focus on their wellbeing. Therefore, it’s a smart idea to get into the habit of self-care and you-time as soon as possible. Little breaks away from your routine and having things to look forward to are often enough for people to take the rest that life has to throw at them. By looking after yourself properly and ensuring you’re happy and healthy is by no means selfish; you’ll become a better person for your loved-ones and gain the strength to face both your own and their struggles. Young minds often learn by example, so you’ll also be teaching your kids how to take care of themselves and others in the future, which is a valuable lesson you’ll want them to learn. The following are some ideas for those who need to take better care of themselves and take time out to be kind to their mind.

Time Away From The Routine

A great way to release any pressure that’s built up in your mind is to step into a fresh and enjoyable situation. You probably don’t have the time or opportunity to go traveling for weeks on end. Therefore, you need to incorporate regular and feasible breaks into your weekly, or everyday routine. If your head for a coffee each day, great; you’re already getting the hang of treating yourself. However, you can still mix things up and head somewhere new for coffee, lunch, and a break away from your office or home life. You’ll have the chance to be in new surroundings, take in a fresh environment, and even meet new acquaintances that might just become your friends.

If you have an hour lunch break in your contract; take that hour. It’s the time that you’re entitled to, and an important chance to recharge your batteries and gather your thoughts before heading back to work. Try to fill up on food and drinks that will nourish your body; sweet treats can be part of a balanced diet, but eating them every lunchtime will only make you crash later in the afternoon and you’ll struggle with your work. Slow release carbohydrates and plenty of protein, and vitamins and minerals will ensure that you’re fuelling your body and your brain for a successful day ahead. You can mix it up with your meals; perhaps take your homemade lunch to work some days, and eat out on others.

If you have friends who are colleagues, or perhaps your favorite people are other moms that you met through your children’s school; make an effort to meet up in your free time. Firstly; you need to give yourself that free time. Much like that lunch hour that was previously mentioned; it’s vital as a mom that you stop feeling guilty for not rushing home after the school run and doing a list of jobs you’ve given yourself. Head out to that new cafe that’s opened in town with your friends, enjoy your time with them; then you can head home again and get on with your chores. That hour or so that you gave yourself will give your mind the boost (and caffeine) it needs to tackle the rest of your busy day, so don’t skip or ignore it.

Communication And Sharing Feelings

Another essential element to relieving the worries and stresses that are in your mind is to ensure that you’re able to talk to someone about how you’re feeling on a regular basis. Looking after your mental health is a vital part of leading a successful life and the only way you’ll truly have the ability to take care of others. You might be struggling with a current situation or an event that’s recently impacted you, or you might have had a difficult past and weren’t able to imagine a self before trauma in your life. Whatever issues are in your mind and affecting your everyday life, abilities, and happiness need to be addressed as soon as possible.

Finding someone that you trust, who is qualified in counseling and therapy, is the best way to begin to treat the problem and move forward in a positive manner. Mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of as many women suffer with them in varying degrees. They will only get worse if you try to ignore them, and those around you may begin to suffer, as well as yourself, as a result. There are an array of resources available; you might not feel confident enough to visit a therapist in person so that you can discuss things over the phone or through email. You’ll feel a weight as lifted the second you open up about what’s happened, what is happening, or how you’re feeling about life. As soon as a problem is out there; it’s shared and halved, and you’ll only receive help, compassion, and guidance in return, so it’s always worth being brave and making contact.

You may not have suffered a severe trauma, or be going through any serious mental health issues; however, it’s still crucial to your wellbeing to share your thoughts and feelings regularly. Whether it’s your mom, spouse, or best friend; they all know you and care about how you’re feeling. Therefore, make sure that you make time to talk to people if something is upsetting or troubling you; you’ll receive enough care and advice to feel much better about things, and it’s a chance to catch up with those you love the most. You never know; they might start asking you for advice, which is another way to refocus your mind and alleviate your own issues.

Learning To Appreciate The Little Things

When you’re busy and stuck in your routine every day; it can be easy to forget all those little things around you that can make you smile, and give you a positive outlook on your day. Taking time out for yourself, as discussed beforehand, is the first step in being able to take in your surroundings and think about what you have to appreciate. Feeling thankful and having gratitude for memories, situations, people, and things will help to keep your mind in a balanced and positive state. Therefore, it’s important that you become more aware of what’s happening around you. Perhaps the barista put extra sprinkles on your spiced latte, or the colors of the fall leaves in the park today are more beautiful than yesterday. Whatever sparks that bit of joy in your head and brings a smile to your face is going to be great for your mind, body, and soul, and often those are the things that come for free.

Always be kind to others; you’ll reap the rewards and welcome even more positivity into your life. However, put yourself and your happiness first, and ensure that you’re being kind to your mind so that you can continue being wonder woman on a day-to-day basis.

Topical Ingredients Every Women Needs In Her Skincare Arsenal

According to research, the skin absorbs an incredible 60 percent of the chemical rubbed into it. In other words, some of those creams, lotions, shampoos, and moisturizers eventually work their way through the skin and into your body. You might think that that’s okay, but most commercial skin care products contain chemicals that can cause allergies and even disrupt your hormones.

What’s more, science still hasn’t really gotten a handle on the problem. Science works by isolating factors and then looking for correlations between those factors and disease. But today, women are exposed to hundreds of different chemicals through their skin, all of which interact in ways not yet studied by science. Whether it’s safe or not, therefore, to use anything other than natural body lotions remains a mystery. So what can you apply topically to your skin that will not only nourish you from the outside but protect you on the inside too? Take a look at some of these topical skin care ingredients.

Coconut Oil

Wikimedia Commons

Coconut oil is a rare saturated plant fat. Science is revealing that eating coconut oil probably isn’t a good idea because of the risk it poses to the cardiovascular system. But the good news is that applying it to the skin can have positive benefits, especially if the overall quality of your diet is poor (that is, you eat only a small amount of whole plant food).

Why is coconut oil so good for the skin? Research shows that the fats contained in the oil help to add resistance to the epidermal barrier of the skin, reinforcing it and reducing the chances of inflammation and dermatitis.

You can also apply coconut oil to your hair too. Not only does the oil have antifungal and antibacterial functions, it selectively attacks the bad bacteria living on the surface of your skin, but keeps the good ones alive.

Amla Powder

Amla is the native Hindi name for the Indian gooseberry. It’s not particularly well known in the West, but it’s been used in Ayurvedic medicine for millennia. Amla is actually a food, although you’ll most commonly find it associated with herbal medicine if you do a search for it online. On the inside of your body, Amla has been shown to work wonders. Diabetics are given Amla see an incredible halving of their fasting blood sugar levels, reducing them to the normal range without any other medical intervention. And those with high triglyceride levels in their blood also see a halving in levels once using amla for a couple of weeks.

Biodiversity of India

Amla can also be made into a paste and applied to the skin. Currently, it’s the highest antioxidant food known to science that is available to buy, and it can help bolster the skin’s natural defenses, protecting it from pollution, sun damage and the chemical byproducts produced by your metabolism. Amla can also be rubbed into the hair and has the effect of making it darker and more lustrous over time.

Almond Oil

Wikimedia Commons

Essential oils, like almond oils, actually strip out a lot of the nutrients found in foods naturally. But the benefit is that the oils can be easily spread over the surface of the skin. Almond oil is a lot easier to apply than almond butter. With that said, almond oil still has its benefits. The good news is that not all of the skin-friendly vitamin, vitamin E, is lost during the refining process. And this vitamin, once it comes into contact with the skin, has gentle, antibacterial properties which can help to reduce skin rashes and inflammation. What’s more, almond oil smells really good too, so this is definitely one topical ingredient you need to look out for.

Lemon Essential Oil

Citrus fruits are among the most underrated fruits in the world. While the nutrition community focuses on berries and pomegranate, lychees, oranges, grapefruits, limes, and lemons seem to be forgotten. They shouldn’t be: they all contain powerful phytonutrients and antioxidants unique to the citrus family.

Lemon oil is an incredible oil for the skin. Not only is lemon famously antibacterial thanks to all the limonene and acid it contains, but it’s also been shown to have a positive effect on age spots (which are usually just oxidized fat deposits below the top layer of skin).

Lemon oil is also great as a teeth whitener, detergent and for cellulite when used in conjunction with a healthy diet. If you don’t want to apply lemon oil neat, you don’t have to: just mix it up with another carrier oil, like jojoba and apply generously all over the body or to problem areas. Lemon oil has the ability to penetrate deep into pores and kill acne-producing bacteria.

Do you love avocado toast? You’re not alone. But avocado isn’t just Millennial’s favorite snack food: it’s also chock full of healthy ingredients for your skin,

Avocado is the only fruit in the world that is based on fat. Over 70 percent of the calories from the fruit come from fat, making it almost completely unique. The avocado flesh contains all the fat soluble vitamins, including A, E and even, in some circumstances, D. All of these vitamins can penetrate the skin, and so rubbing avocado all over your face is a great way to nourish your skin naturally, while also moisturizing it using the avocado oils.

Science also shows that, just as when eaten, avocado is an inflammation-reducing food. People who eat avocados on a regular basis have lower overall inflammatory markers and lower markers in their skin. There are dozens of recipes for avocado face masks so just Google it.

Cider Vinegar

Were there skin problems in ancient Greece? There were according to Hippocrates, founder of medicine in 400 BC. And what was his remedy? Apple cider vinegar. He used vinegar to kill fungal agents on people’s skin, returning them to health and helping them to overcome common ulcerations and diseases.

Today, apple cider vinegar is used by people who want to overcome acne, as well as those with potassium or magnesium deficiency, as apple cider vinegar is high in both.

Natural Ways to Keep Your Teeth Shining

White teeth is often a goal that we all aim for. No one wants dark stains or yellow tinting on their teeth which is why we spend so much time, effort and money on trying to keep our teeth sparkling. Unfortunately, many of us resort to expensive procedures and products that can cause sensitivity issues in our teeth and ultimately cause long-term damage if used incorrectly. If you want to avoid these issues, then consider these natural methods for teeth-whitening that won’t burn a hole in your wallet or your teeth!

Learn Why Teeth Turn Yellow

The first thing to keep in mind and learn is why teeth turn yellow in the first place. From smoking to drinking tea or coffee on a regular basis, there are many factors that ultimately contribute to discoloration of our teeth. If you’re serious about making your teeth shine, then here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Tea or coffee will stain your teeth, so make sure you drink plenty of water after heavy tea or coffee drinking
  • Smoking cigarettes will contribute to stained teeth and the damage will be hard to repair without serious cosmetic help
  • Ageing can also contribute to enamel thinning that affects the color of your teeth
  • Processed food that is high in acid such as soft drinks or fruit juices can discolour teeth, so it’s recommended to drink copious amounts of water to counteract it
  • Genetic factors are also a leading cause of yellow teeth and there’s not much that can be done without cosmetic aids

Now that you understand some of the reasons why teeth turn yellow, you can now start to avoid these things in order to naturally begin whitening your teeth. By avoiding things like tea and coffee, fruit juices and increasing your overall water intake, you’ll notice some benefits that will slowly lead to whiter and cleaner teeth.

Learn to Brush Properly

Naturally, one of the best options to whiten teeth is to simply brush them properly. If you’re not taking good care of your teeth, then you’ll end up with plaque, bacteria, and bits of food which cause your gums to worsen and your teeth to look dirty.

A good place to start would be to look at the best electric toothbrush you can find. Electric brushes offer many advantages over traditional brushing techniques and they’re worth the money you invest thanks to their effectiveness. It takes a little to get used to, but it ensures that your teeth stay clean and fresh.

You should also compliment your brushing with flossing. Although some people don’t believe in flossing, it’s one of the only ways to get rid of plaque and food build up in between your teeth. If you’ve ever eating something that sticks to your teeth, then you’ll know what it feels like to have food stuck in your mouth. Flossing can be quite difficult to learn, but there are interdental brushes that take the work out of flossing and make it far easier to do.

12 Ways To Whiten Your Teeth

We all want to be able to smile with pride. Stained or yellowed teeth can cause embarrassment or shame for many people. Fortunately, there are many ways to reduce discoloration and help to make teeth whiter again. Here are a few methods that will help to brighten up your smile.

Drink less sugary drinks

We all know that sugar is bad for our teeth. Whilst sweets and cakes can do their damage, sugary drinks are by far the biggest culprits when it comes to tooth decay and discoloration. This is because these sugary drinks swill around our mouth coating every surface with sugar. This will either stain or rot the enamel.

Soda drinks are what most people immediately think of, but many squashes and sugary caffeine drinks can be just as bad. You can either drink less of these drinks or opt for sugar-free options which are less likely to stain your teeth. Drinking through a straw can also stop soft drinks from swelling around your mouth.

Limit coffee and red wine

Two other offenders for teeth discoloration are coffee and red wine. These dark colored drinks can cause browning of the teeth over time (whilst sugar in the coffee and alcohol in the wine can also contribute to enamel decay).

Other than drinking these beverages less often, a solution could be to accompany these drinks with a glass of water. Taking regular sips of water in between mouthfuls of coffee and wine can help rinse the staining particles in the liquid out and stop them clinging to the teeth. Brushing your teeth after having these drinks could also be a solution.

Quit smoking

Smoking can damage your mouth in many ways from causing gum disease to even developing oral cancers. When it comes to your teeth, nicotine, and tar can quickly cause yellowing. Longtime heavy smokers may start to develop brown teeth eventually.

Whilst there are special toothpaste and mouthwashes for smokers, you’re far better off packing in smoking altogether. Vaping is a popular route for those wanting to quit – it gets rid of much of the chemicals and tar that causes staining. You can buy e-cigarettes in most stores, whilst sites such as offer a range of e-liquids to choose from. Other methods of giving up include nicotine patches and nicotine gum.

Eat more strawberries

Strawberries might not seem like the obvious food to help whiten teeth given that they can easily stain a white t-shirt. However, the malic acid found in strawberries is actually highly effective at stripping away plaque and helping to reclaim your teeth’s shine.

This only works with fresh strawberries on their own – if you’re adding sugar to them you’ll null the effect, whilst mixing with other berries isn’t recommended either (blueberries can help to cause staining). Some people have created DIY whitening toothpaste out of mashed strawberries and baking soda. This will help remove staining, but shouldn’t be used as a substitute to normal toothpaste and should only complement it.

Eat more nuts

Crunchy foods are generally great for cleaning our teeth. Raw carrots, apples, and pears can help remove plaque whilst also boosting saliva flow, which in turn helps clean teeth. For an even better tooth whitening food, you could try eating more nuts. Nuts have many positive health properties but they’re also great at strengthening our teeth’s enamel, both through the chewing action and the protein that these foods give us. Nuts also stimulate saliva production, helping to clean our teeth.

There are arguments that nuts can have dental downsides too. In fact, some scientists claim our ancestors had such bad teeth because of living mostly on nuts. This may be because are capable of chipping at the enamel, although this is likely to only affect those with little plaque on their teeth. As with any food, it’s worth eating these foods in moderation (i.e. don’t go too nuts for nuts!).

Be wary of citric fruits

Citric fruits are a topic of debate when it comes to tooth whitening. There are those that claim oranges and lemons can help whiten teeth, whilst there are those that claim they can contribute to yellowing.

So who is right? Well, both are. The citric acid in oranges and lemons can help to get rid of plaque and there are those out there who have made DIY toothpaste out of crushed orange peels and lemon rinds. This can be a good temporary solution for getting rid of staining caused by sugar and coffee and red wine and tobacco. However, too much citric acid can eventually cause enamel to corrode. This can cause the dentin beneath to become exposed – a yellow tissue beneath the enamel. If you are using a DIY citric fruit toothpaste, use it no more than once a week and stop using it once the teeth are getting whiter as further use could strip away the enamel.

Chew sugar-free gum

Chewing gum can help to pick up plaque on the teeth causing discolouration. It can also stimulate the salivary glands, helping to clean our teeth. Chewing gum must, of course, must be sugar-free in order to have this effect, as sugar could contribute to tooth decay. There are plenty of whitening gums out there that claim to be able to make your teeth brighter. These can help to combat discoloration, although are unlikely to be as effective as a whitening toothpaste.

Try baking soda

Baking soda is a miracle product with many hidden household uses. You may have heard of its use as a cleaning agent for getting rid of tough stains on wooden floors and kitchen countertops. Well, it can also be used to get rid of stains on your teeth. By creating a solution of baking soda and lemon juice (or water) and brushing your teeth with it, you may be able to erase some of the stains.

This method should only be used every other day and should be used on top of regular toothpaste brushing. Baking soda is much more effective at getting rid of surface stains. It may not be suited for getting of deep stains and in fact by trying to get rid of these, you could start to wear down your enamel. This is because baking soda is fairly abrasive.

Try oil pulling

Oil pulling is another alternative method of tooth whitening that could be worth trying out. It involves taking a tablespoon of cooking oil (either olive oil, cooking oil or sesame oil) and swilling it around the mouth for 10 to 15 minutes. The oil can help suck the plaque and discoloration off of your teeth and make them appear whiter. Whilst this can be done with any household oil, sites such as sell specialized oils for this use.

Try hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is found in many commercial whitening toothpaste. It’s a bleaches agent that not only cleans off stains but actually whitens the enamel underneath. Hydrogen peroxide should never be used on its own – you’ll be safe if it’s already in a toothpaste, but if you’re buying it as a raw ingredient you should always mix it with other ingredients (a common mixture is hydrogen peroxide, water, and baking soda). You can also buy peroxide-based whitening strips and brush-on gel. Hydrogen peroxide is also used in many forms of professional tooth whitening.

Try activated charcoal

Few people would think of brushing their teeth with charcoal. However, activated charcoal can be another fantastically effective DIY tooth whitening product, getting rid of staining and removing plaque. You should brush your teeth with it as you would with toothpaste and then rinse out your mouth. You should then re-brush your teeth with toothpaste to get rid of the blackness – your teeth should immediately look whiter. Sites such as sell specialist activated charcoal toothpaste for the job.

Consider professional tooth whitening

A more drastic measure for those eager to whiten their teeth could be to seek professional treatment. This is, of course, more costly, although it is likely to be more instantly effective and permanent.

Laser treatment is one of the more impactful options. This involves putting a bleaching agent on the teeth and activating it with a laser. This then gets rid of the yellow surface layer of your teeth. This can be a painful procedure and you should expect your teeth to be a little more sensitive after.

Another option could be veneers. This involves capping all your teeth with thin porcelain covers. This then creates the illusion of naturally white teeth. Veneers may be less expensive than laser treatment and more effective at make your teeth look white. However, there are drawbacks to veneers – they could limit you as to which foods you can eat. For example, foods such as toffee could risk a veneer coming off and are usually not advised.

Your Big Mouth! Fixing Those Many Oral Hygiene Problems

It’s one of the pillars of our hygiene, but do we take the time to look after our mouths the way we are supposed to? For a lot of people, that fateful trip to the dentist brings about a lot of anxiety because they know that they haven’t been looking after their mouths as well as they should! And while we all know the importance of brushing twice a day, this isn’t all we should be doing. So, let’s have a look at some of the things you can do to look after your teeth, your gums, your tongue, and the entirety of your mouth.

Making Those Teeth As White (And Healthy) As Possible…

It might not need to be said, but there is such a negative effect on our teeth if we consume too much sugar. And while it’s not right to tell people to drink less or to not enjoy that bit of chocolate at the end of a hard week, there are things that we can do to look after our teeth better. A lot of us aren’t happy with the shape of our teeth (especially those people that didn’t have braces in school), and we may find that that one out of place tooth can become a problem as we age. But with the development of braces over the years it’s now possible to get invisible braces which you can barely see. There are lots of places that now do this service such as Dentistry with TLC, and you can discover Dentistry with TLC on their website for more information on invisible braces. The main thing about realigning your teeth is it will make them stronger as well as give you that peace of mind when it comes to feeling embarrassed about the shape of your teeth, which a lot of us feel from time to time.

Once you have realigned your teeth, the next step would be to tackle the color, especially if you drink sugary drinks and enjoy a glass of wine now and again, which will discolor the teeth. But the secret weapon to making your teeth white is actually to consume foods that are rich in vitamin C, which are fruits like strawberries, lemons, and oranges. But you have to be aware that these are highly acidic, so you need to strike the right balance. It’s also worth getting into the habit of rinsing your mouth out with water after you have consumed any acidic drink, from fizzy soda to alcohol. Milk is generally okay, of course, but it’s important to note that there are small quantities of sugar in it.

Remember, there’s a lot to be said for natural remedies which can help to remove plaque, such as apple cider vinegar which is also good in whitening your teeth. But make sure you apply it to water to dilute it and to reduce the acidic qualities. Bicarbonate of soda is another natural ingredient to help whiten your teeth, and many common kinds of toothpaste now have a small quantity of it in its ingredients. Just apply bicarb of soda straight to the teeth or mash it up into a paste with some salt.

Freshening Your Breath!

A big part of your oral hygiene, if you are someone who suffers from chronically bad breath, it could be a sign of festering bacteria or poor mouth habits. There are simple ways to freshen up your breath, and a lot of it is to do with your diet. While we may underestimate our tongue, when we brush our teeth at night a lot of unpleasant odors can stick to it, especially if you eat a lot of fatty foods. It’s important to have healthy carbohydrates to balance out the fat, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and fruits.

One fruit you can use in your fight against bad breath is apples. This is one of the foods that stimulate saliva, which helps to rinse out bacteria. In addition to this, the hard texture of crunchy foods like apples, carrots, or celery can contribute to remove the food that is caught between your teeth and rub away the bacteria. Natural remedies are a great choice when it comes to bad breath because they are low in acidity. Herbs like mint leaves or parsley is an easy way to freshen your breath. One of the reasons people have bad breath is because foods aren’t being broken down properly in the stomach which can ferment in your stomach and increase the acidity levels. If you are one of these people that do not chew your food properly you may wish to consume foods that aid digestion or take a probiotic supplement which ironically probiotics are found in fermented foods like sauerkraut.

Also, the importance of good oral hygiene will help especially if you get into the habit of cleaning your tongue by using a tongue scraper or just using your toothbrush on it. The main thing to take away from trying to keep your breath as fresh as possible is that you need to keep your mouth as moist as possible. Saliva will wash away odors and bacteria which means trying, where you can, to stay away from food and drink that dries your mouth out. This will increase the bacteria in your mouth and will affect your cavities too. If you can get mouthwash that doesn’t have alcohol that will be a good step, but you can also make your own with the ever faithful bicarbonate of soda mixed in a cup of warm water with a couple of drops of peppermint oil. The bicarbonate of soda is antibacterial, and the peppermint will add a zing of freshness to your breath.

Understanding Why We Get Mouth Ulcers

Also known as canker sores, these are little sores that appear inside the mouth which are very uncomfortable but are usually harmless and will clear up after a couple of weeks. But they can affect your ability to enjoy food in general if it’s quite a painful ulcer. It’s important to note that mouth ulcers can be caused by various things including constipation, deficiencies of vitamin B and C, a lack of iron or vital nutrients, as well as excessive acidity. But the most common cause is usually a stomach disorder, so it’s key to tackle the root cause rather than to address the symptoms and here are some methods.

Cutting back on bacteria in your mouth, so it doesn’t have a chance to spread, is the key to helping prevent and get rid of mouth ulcers. Honey is an excellent humectant (which means that it prevents dehydration), as well as it has a lot of antimicrobial properties. Coconut oil is another one that’s very popular right now, but you can use it as a natural anti-inflammatory by swishing it around in your mouth. By the same token, ghee is another method to try on your ulcer. Simply apply it on the ulcer and let it stay there for a few minutes before spitting it out. Aloe vera juice is also another home remedy to treat mouth ulcers, you can drink it as well as swish it around your mouth as drinking it has been known to cure stomach ulcers by healing the stomach lining and reducing what is known as a leaky gut syndrome.

Preventing Gum Disease

There’s no quick fix when it comes to preventing gum disease. Gum disease is caused when bacteria in the plaque build up between the gums and the teeth inflaming the gums around the tooth. If left untreated, it can cause gum recession or tooth loss, but while research has shown that gum disease might be associated with things like diabetes or heart disease, you can prevent this by having a good oral hygiene routine. So, the basics like brushing your teeth flossing once a day as well as using mouthwash will help to prevent gum disease. You also need to know if you are at risk based on your age, genetics, and habits such as smoking and diet, as they can all increase your risk for gum disease. That is why there is no replacement for going to a dentist on a regular basis, and they will tell you the same thing, as well as making sure you eat a balanced diet.

If you do have bad mouth hygiene or are facing recurring issues with your mouth, the key things are looking after your mouth properly (such as brushing your teeth), as well as making sure you’re eating the right things, but also making sure that you are in the habit of looking after your mouth. There is no point if it’s got to the point where you are about to have a root canal because of poor oral hygiene! So if you want to minimize your trips to the dentist, prevention is always better than cure. So start now, eat a proper diet and look after yourself so you won’t find yourself down in the mouth!

Save Money On Beauty Products: Looking Good The Natural Way

Of course, you want to look good, but you don’t need to spend a fortune on beauty products. We all have those moments in front of the mirror when we feel dissatisfied with the way we look but don’t cover up your face with layers of makeup when there are natural ways to enhance your beauty. Unconvinced? Read on to find out more (and save yourself a ton of money).

Make a beeline for the honey

We have the bees to thank for this luxurious way to enhance the look and feel of our skin. Using raw honey (not the processed stuff filling up the store shelves), make a face mask that will give your face a beautiful warm glow. Simply rub a little honey between your fingertips, then apply it to every area of your face. Lie back, and bask in the feel of the honey as it gets to work on your skin. After around ten minutes, get up and rinse your face with warm water, and pat dry with a soft towel. Your face will look and feel great due to honey’s natural healing properties.

A honey face mask may even knock a few years off your weathered looks as it contains antioxidants that are perfect for slowing down the aging process. Those who suffer from acne will benefit as well, due to honey’s antibacterial properties. So, thank the bees for a job well done. In this instance, there is no sting in the tail!

Go bananas with your hair

There are loads of beauty products on the shelves for maintaining the luster of your hair. You could even opt for a hairspray wig, particularly if you have dry or damaged hair. However, there are natural ways to mend your hair, so the next time you are in the supermarket, we recommend you add eggs and bananas to your shopping basket.

Simply form a paste using one egg and a mashed up banana. Mix them together, and apply the paste to your hair. Leave it on for around twenty minutes, and these wonderful foods will add moisture to your hair, giving you a wonderful shine and making the top of your head feel great.

Moisturise with oranges

Oranges offer many health benefits, but they are also a great way to soften the hardened skin on your elbows and knees. Simply cut one in half and rub it over the dry patches on your skin. Voila! Your skin will feel softer, and you will have given yourself an orange tan to boot! Warning: insects will love the smell of your skin too, so we advise you to wash over the sticky residue before you become an impromptu fruit salad for tempted beasties!

Oranges are not the only fruit

There are tropical fruits we have heard of, such as the oranges above, and some we haven’t. The cupuacu fruit is something we had never heard of, until now! Apparently, it tastes like a mixture of bananas and pears, which sounds absolutely delicious. However, other than making a wonderful breakfast option, the fruit offers some fantastic ways to look after your hair and skin. Cupuacu contains natural ingredients to smooth and soften your hair, hydrate your skin, as well as many other benefits. Follow this link about cupuacu butter to find out more about this seemingly magical fruit and how it could help you.

Exfoliate with olive oil

Don’t buy an expensive body scrub from the local beauty shop. Instead, use this effective mixture of olive oil and sea salt. Mix a 2 to 1 ratio of the olive oil and sea salt, and rub the mixture into your skin to get rid of any dead skin cells. Your skin will feel smoother, and you will have saved yourself a lot of money by using something you probably already have in your kitchen cupboard.

Solve your itchy scalp problems

Dandruff is an embarrassing problem many of us have to deal with, and there are many shampoos on the market that promise to fix the problem. However, we have a little trick you might find useful. There are already tea tree oil shampoos on the store shelves, but add a couple of drops of tea tree oil into your regular shampoo, and moisturize your scalp. Regular treatment should remove those pesky dry flakes, reducing the risk of those awkward moments when somebody asks you if it has been snowing recently.

Crush a grape

Another natural recipe for your skin, and one that can enhance your tired complexion. Simply crush a handful of grapes and mix them with a couple of tablespoons of white flour. Apply the paste to your face, and leave for around ten minutes. Wash it off with warm water, and marvel at the results when you look into the mirror.

Despite the smell…

A beauty tip that may not be the most fragrant on this list, but it is one you may find useful. This one is for those of us with brittle nails that are at constant risk of breaking all the time. Chop up some fresh garlic and add it to your nail polish. Leave the mixture to sit for about a week before applying to your nails. The garlic will harden and strengthen your nails, but we know what you are thinking. What about the smell? Don’t worry; you won’t fend off potential suitors as the smell will wear off after only a short time. Hint: great for keeping away vampires too!

Care for yourself

Store bought, and natural beauty products are only part of the battle in looking good. You can do yourself a favor by looking after yourself on a daily basis as part of your beauty regime. Eating a healthy diet and taking plenty of exercises will ensure you look and feel good. Get rid of skin destroying bad habits such as smoking, and get plenty of beauty sleep to reduce the risks of bags under your eyes. You are beautiful, on the inside and out, so care for yourself in all aspects of your life.
