Okay, so everyone online is out here acting like the only way to make a home feel luxurious is to rip out your kitchen, install marble everything, and remodel like you’re on HGTV or one of those major home renovation YouTube channels. Like, sure, you could, but your average person doesn’t have that kind of money (plus, where are people getting money for this, a second mortgage?).
Plus, there’s the chance you’ll outgrow all that marble, too, so yeah, it might not be worth throwing money at those things. Sometimes you just want your home to feel a bit more grown, more put together, more fresh, and just more… ahhh. Like a nice sigh of relief or something like that. Now, on the contrary to what the internet tells you, you actually don’t need a massive renovation or smart home tech everywhere in order for your house to feel luxurious.
Yeah, these are ways, but it’s not the only way. There are small ways, like tiny, fairly cheap ways to make your house feel luxurious. It might not look the part, but it’s the feeling itself that matters the most anyway.
Upgrade the Stuff You Use Every Single Day
Alright, this sounds almost too simple, doesn’t it? But yeah, it’s true, and it’s surprisingly overlooked, but updating the things you physically touch or use daily can weirdly change the whole experience of being at home. Actually, towels are a great example. So, how old are your towels? Are they crunchy? When you go to hotels, do you get excited about fluffy towels? Well, it’s not the perfect time to buy some. Use your old towels for cleaning instead; they don’t need to go to waste. Oh, and the same goes for bedding. If your sheets feel like sandpaper or make you overheat, yeah, that needs sorting.
The same goes for your shower head; you can either buy a new one or just clean your current one (chances are the water pressure is low). Even just high-pressure water really makes a standard shower just feel a little more luxurious.
Think About Your Daily Comfort Flow
Well, the shower, towels, and bedding are a part of daily comfort, but dive a little deeper into this. While yeah, some upgrades aren’t flashy, but they make home life so much nicer. Like a coat rack by the door so you’re not throwing jackets everywhere, or a laundry hamper that isn’t ugly so clothes actually go in it. Yeah, these are super mundane, but they’re still fairly luxurious in a way because they bring peace into your life.
The same can be said for your hot water heater, like no one likes that whole “used up all the hot water” after someone else in the house took a shower or washed dishes, right? Like, something like that should be a concept in the 1970s, not the 2020s. So even looking into a water heater installation, well, a new water heater specifically can make a difference. Again, little things like these are the real luxuries in life, and you should be in comfort every day in your own home.
Add Comfort to Things You Don’t Think About
This one sounds weird, but just think a little more into it. It’s meant to be those small things that boost quality of life. Like, if the doorbell rings, well, people can hear you walk to the door to see the peephole, or the window, and people can see the shadow. No one likes solicitors, no one likes those random drop-ins by guests (family included). So having a doorbell camera instantly solves it. So, it’s an example, but you get the idea, it’s those small things that are an upgrade that you usually wouldn’t think about.
