If you are creating a business selling your own handmade products, you may have toyed with the idea of selling at the local market. The problem is that you might not know how to make your stores stand out so that customers will want to buy from you.
You may have seen other market stalls with queues of customers lining up to buy products, while other stalls seem to struggle. You don’t want to be that struggling install, but at the same time you want to make your market stall, stand out and attract as many customers as possible. It begins with having clear signage and a good company name, but it’s also about the products that you’re selling. Good presentation is everything, as is being able to offer customers options. Let’s take a look at how you can make your markets still stand out.
- Offer payment options. Most market stalls offer a cash only policy because they are a market stall rather than a shop.If you can, make sure that you are offering your customers use of a smart payment terminal, you’re going to be able to attract more people. Plenty of people prefer to be able to tap on and tap off with their card, and it’s easier to do that in a society that no longer carries cash. While some people do still have cash and you can still offer cash payments, having more options will bring in more customers.
- Be clear with your signage. People will notice your sign from a distance and if you have your company signage in the market store matching your website, you’re going to create a cohesive brand. Making sure that your company name is clear and in large writing is going to help it to be remembered because even the customers that are just filtering past will still think of you.
- Have clarity in what you do. There’s nothing more frustrating for a customer than trying to figure out what it is that you’re actually selling. You only get about 3 seconds to appeal to people so you need to make sure that your signage and your company name match. If you’re selling jam say that you’re selling jam, if you’re selling homegoods say that you’re selling homegoods.
- Present your products. Products sell better than others if they are presented correctly. You need to have good marketing techniques, but if your product is not in demand, you’re not going to attract any customers. There’s a reason that people love to buy cold drinks in a market stall or they love to buy hot cookies. It’s because they are already looking around at what they want to buy and your refreshments are going to make a big difference to their experience. Make sure that your products are something that people want so that when you put them out in your market stall, people pay attention.
You can make your market stall stand out if you are paying attention to what your customers want.
