Embarrassing Health Chat: The Discussions You Don’t Want To Have But Should

Everyone gets embarrassed at times. But I don’t think there can be anything worse than those embarrassing health issues that anyone of us can be faced with at some point in our lives. We tend to act a little sheepish. Avoid the doctors for as long as possible. Google as much as we can about quick fixes or trying to self-diagnose the problem so that you don’t actually have to say the words. Sound familiar? But while some of them can be very embarrassing to talk about, we also need to be very aware that in the majority of cases we should see and speak to our GP. In all fairness, they will have probably heard it or seen it all before. I wanted to highlight some of the discussions you don’t want to have, but should if you find yourself in this situation.

Problems with your bladder or bowel

No one likes toilet chat, do they? There is something quite embarrassing about opening up to someone about your bowel movements or how often you urinate. So the best advice would be to know what is normal for you. If you do start to go to the toilet more frequently to urinate, then you may want to speak to professionals in urology to see whether there are any issues such as an overactive bladder. Bowel movements can be a little more tricky, so it is best to understand what might be normal and seek advice when you are unsure. It could be as simple as something that you are eating aggravating your body.

Gynecology issues

Another thing you can feel embarrassed about when it comes to your health is discussing issues regarding your womb, cervix, ovaries and Fallopian tubes. The problem is that you often can’t decipher whether there is something wrong until you have some form of investigation. A great tip is to consider changes with your menstrual cycle, as this could be an indicator that something isn’t right.

Trying to conceive

Along with issues with your womb, you may not notice problems until you actually start wanting to use this part of your body and try for a baby. Being aware of your cycles and your fertile days but still not having anything happening for a while could mean there are some issues with your fertility. While it can be disheartening, sometimes issues can be solved. It is not an ideal situation to be in or discussion you want to have, but it could help change your life.

Struggling with your mental health

Your mental health is one of those things that we can avoid discussing as we try and avoid and cover up our feelings and thoughts. Anxiety can really affect how we live our lives and can even cause us to avoid certain things. Depression is also something that can really take over your life. Often it is do with your thoughts, your negative thinking and your outlook on life. However, communicating the issue can actually help you take positive steps in the right direction to help arm you with the tools you need to overcome how you feel.

Lumps and bumps where they shouldn’t be

Lumps can appear out of nowhere and in the first instance they can be quite alarming. We are all encouraged to regulatory check our bodies, and to know what is normal for us and what isn’t. So when a lump appears you may be wondering what it is or even fear the worse. While there is a possibility that it could be cancerous, you also need to consider that there are a variety of reasons a lump ca appear such as a swollen gland or an infection. Speaking to your doctor and having the chat can put your mind at ease.

Big chest

One female issue that can feel embarrassing to discuss is your chest area and a big problem many females can have is large breasts. Cosmetically, this might be something people desire, but the reality is, they can cause you may issue such as back pain. Speaking to your doctor can help you come up with solutions to this and in some cases, a reduction may be possible.

Infections

Finally, if we are coughing we are likely to see someone with a chest infection cure, if we feel unwell we are likely to get antibiotics to resolve any infection. However, there are infections in our body that we can choose to ignore because we feel they are embarrassing. Infections in our feet, glands, areas where we might sweat a lot. They can cause us to feel embarrassed but actually highlighting the issue will help your resolve it quicker than ignore it.

I hope that this has made you more aware of some of the health discussions you should be having.

Super Practical Reasons To Recover From Illnesses Naturally

From pxhere

You don’t feel well? Here, take a tablet. It feels as if the answer to every health problem these days is to pop a pill. Whether it’s a terminal diagnosis or a headache, the average person turns to drugs for help and it’s wrong. Let’s get one thing straight – pills work and are effective. However, no one says you should avoid them completely. The key is to strike the perfect balance, and plenty of people aren’t hitting this goal in 2018. It’s as if temptation is impossible to resist in today’s culture. With that in mind, here are the practical reasons to recover naturally. Some of the following may come as a surprise.

The Bacterial War

Bacteria are living organisms. As a result, they can adapt and evolve, and they have been doing this under the radar for decades. Now, there is a real risk of overmedicating and self-medicating leading to bacterial immunity from antibiotics. Yep, even the strongest penicillin can struggle to kill off a common microorganism. What this means is that, in the future, if nothing changes, an infection may be life-threatening. Recovering without popping a pill means that your body will be able to fight back more efficiently and work with the drugs.

The War Against Drugs

When you hear the word “drugs,” there’s a good chance that you think of narcotics. The likes of heroin, crack, and cocaine is a scourge on society and need tackling. At least, that’s what previous presidents from Reagan to Bush thought. In truth, prescription pills such as oxycodone are ravaging the country at the moment. And, they are available over the counter and via a doctor’s office. The question “what is detox treatment for street drugs and prescription drugs?” is something people regularly ask now. Healing organically helps to avoid the temptation and resist the urge to use.

The PR Battle

In the past, people looked at alternative therapies the same way they did at flat-earthers. It was amazing that anyone could believe they worked, whereas now the evidence is in and it looks positive. Granted, drinking green tea may not be a miracle cure but it has its antibacterial benefits. Then, there are the treatments which tackle the mental as well as the physical. Acupuncture, as well as cupping, is excellent at relieving tension in the body. Once the mind is healthy, the body will follow suit as both are linked.

The Routine Development

Can we admit that pills don’t have a positive impact on lifestyle? If anything they are negative as they teach you to take shortcuts to solve problems. Natural remedies are different as they are hard work. It’s not easy to wake up every morning and hit the gym. However, if you want to keep the body fit and healthy, then it’s crucial you get your ass out of bed. Once you tweak areas of your life, other parts will inevitably get a boost too.

Drugs are the easy way out. Are you ready to work hard to save your well-being?

3 Bodily Concerns You Shouldn’t Ignore

If you are keen to look after your health as best as you can then a big part of that is making sure that you actually listen to your body as well as possible. As it happens, most people fail to really do this very well, and too often it just results in some pretty unnecessary situations cropping up. If you want to stay healthy, there are in particular a few key signs which you should look out for, and by all means absolutely not ignore if they do crop up for you. In this article, we are going to look at what they are so that you can more effectively look after your health, and know when it is time to go and see the doctor.

Difficulty Breathing

It might seem obvious, but if you think about it having a hard time breathing be ignored for a surprisingly long time. You might find yourself just thinking that it is probably okay., nothing to worry about, and waiting for it to pass. But the truth is that if you are really suddenly having a hard time breathing, you definitely don’t want to just ignore it. It could be that it is a sign of something quite serious, really anything ranging from bronchitis to asthma and beyond. The first step is to go and see your GP unless it is extreme and you need the emergency help of course. After that you might be referred to a pulmonologist, or similar expert, to make sure that you are not going to let it worsen or experience unnecessary pain and suffering.

Heart Palpitations

A heart palpitation can arise for a huge number of reasons, and it is not always something to worry about. It can be something as simple as drinking too much coffee in a short space of time – or on the other extreme end, it could be that you are having a minor cardiac event and that you need to go to a hospital. In either case, a persistently palpitating heart is not something that you want to ignore, as doing so could really drastically worsen your health in the long run, and could lead to some pretty serious problems in the short term too. Heart palpitations are something to deal with immediately, especially if they are persisting.

Sudden Mole Changes

We all have moles from time to time, and generally, they are not going to pose a threat to your health. But if you have a mole which has suddenly changed in color, shape, or texture, then you should get it checked out immediately. You could well have a skin cancer, which should be easy to deal with as long as you catch it early – hence why you need to do just that. Make sure you are never overlooking anything of this nature, as you never quite know how serious it could really get. Get it early, get treated, and look after yourself much more effectively.

Elyptol Hand Sanitizer Giveaway

Using hand sanitizer has not always been my thing. I can only imagine how many chemicals get on your hands when you put it in your hands. I’ve always been more of a “soap and water” kind of gal. When I was first introduced to the all-natural antimicrobial hand sanitizer spray by Elyptol I was impressed. I was impressed at the all-natural, the texture, the smell, the moisturizing, and the way it made my hands feel afterward.

I keep a bottle of the spray in my purse, in my car, and in grandson’s diaper bag when I am watching him. Two of the hand spray hand sanitizer came with clips on them. I love how I can hook them on the bag for easy access. It became really useful when we took a trip to Disney World, I did not have to worry about everyone running to the bathroom to wash their hands. With so many people in one place, I always stress about the grandkids touching something and getting germs on them. With this hand sanitizer, I know we are protected by its naturally Antimicrobial formula that kills 99.9999% of germs.

Enter for your chance to win this amazing bundle!!

Win a bundle of Elyptol Gel & Spray #5

I also received the natural antimicrobial formula but in the gel. The gel substance does not dry out your hands like the regular gel hand sanitizers. Not only does it not dry out your hands but also helps with moisturizing your hands. I keep this one in my bathrooms beside the sink, at my office at work, and also in my bathroom at my office. I just currently had to replace the one in the office bathroom so I’m assuming it is getting used a lot.

I am very impressed with this product. It made me go from a “soap and water” gal to “I can’t live without this hand sanitizer” gal.

Let’s face it, life can be pretty hard sometimes, and it’s difficult to know what to do in order to feel better. You see something, hear something, or do something that gets you down, and then you’re left stuck in a rut and aren’t quite sure how to climb out of it. You need to know that if you aren’t coping as well as you’d like, there is always help out there, so never feel as though you have to go through something alone.

Stress is one of the biggest issues we have as a human race because there are so many stressful things going on around us. But be the forever optimist! – There are so many ways to enjoy life stress-free – here are just a couple.

Play some music

You don’t need to be told how powerful music is – you already know. You know that sensation you get when you’re listening to the radio and that song comes on from when you were little, and you instantly get that sense of overwhelming nostalgia? So much so you can even smell the scent of the air from that day? Exactly. So imagine being able to play an instrument and create a constant flow of music, varying in genre depending on your mood of the day. With sites like easyukulelesongs.com, it doesn’t have to be over complicated either, you can learn the basics and achieve instant results. The more you practice, the better you will become, and one day you’ll be that person that plays the ukulele around the fire, and everyone stops their conversations so they can listen to the beauty. So pick up that carefully crafted tool, and indulge into a land of harmonies, melodies, and crescendos.

Read a book

It may sound really simple, and if you’re not a regular reader, then you may not be able to understand the true effect it can have until you give it a go. Reading is an incredible gift that we are blessed with, that can take us on endless adventures, from fantasy worlds filled with mythical creatures to romantic heavens shared by the perfect partner – it’s entirely down to what you want to pick up. You can lose yourself in a place that begins to feel so real, that you no longer rely on your imagination because you’re already transported as soon as you begin the next chapter. And one of the best things about it is that you can do it wherever you are, whenever you want. It essentially gives you the ability to live multiple lives through all of your characters, as well as your own, and that’s a pretty magical thing.

So now you have a couple of ideas, consider implementing them into your own life, or think of other things you’d like to try. Everyone is different, so find something that you love and enjoy, and run with it.

Stop Trying To Lose Weight Alone

Weight loss may be a personal goal, but that doesn’t mean you should do it alone. Like any challenge, having motivation from other people can help to spur you on. Here are just a few ways to lose weight with the help of other people.

Find a weight loss partner

Got a friend or family member that also wants to shed the pounds? Trying to lose weight together could be beneficial to you both. You can both motivate one another – when one person doesn’t want to go to the gym or thinks about giving in to an unhealthy food, the other person can help to steer them the right way. Having a weight loss partner may even offer some healthy competition – if they lose more pounds than you in a month, it could spur you to try and do better the next month to try and beat their weight loss.

Join weight loss groups

There are a large number of weight loss groups that can also provide encouragement. This could be a dieting group such as Weight Watchers in which everyone provides encouragement for each other. Alternatively, it could be an exercise group such as a spin class or a regimental fitness class – not everyone may be there to lose weight, but you’ll still have people encouraging you to work hard and attend the next class.

Get guidance from a professional

Another option could to hire the help of a professional. This could be a culinary nutrition expert who can help you to come up with a personalised diet or a personal trainer who can create a personalised exercise regime. Not only can these professionals advise you on the best ways to lose weight for your individual needs, they can also provide expert motivation. The incentive of paying for their advice also could encourage you to keep up the hard work.

Use weight loss apps

Apps may not be human beings, but they can still provide the outside encouragement needed to help you lose weight. There are apps that can count your steps, tell you how many calories are in certain foods, give you meal plan ideas or simply help you record your progress. There are lots of these weight loss apps out there – it could be worth testing multiple ones out until you find one that motivates you.

Encourage your friends and family to motivate you

Your friends and family can provide a vital influence on how well you follow your weight loss plan. You want to make sure that they’re supporting you – they shouldn’t be talking you out of exercise or eating unhealthy snacks in front of you, but instead helping to make healthy meals for you and driving you to the gym. Have a word with your friends and family if you think they’re being a negative influence. Your friends and family shouldn’t have to change their lifestyle to suit yours, however they should have the respect to let you follow your goals.

Here’s How To Value Your Health

Your health is arguably one of the most valuable things in life that you have. After all it hard to enjoy the benefits of family and possessions if your health isn’t good. With that being the case it’s obvious that health should be something that we look after and value as much as possible. Sadly, not all of us do this in a consistent fashion, although there are some ways that you can value your health more that are listed below. Read on to find out what they are.

Image here

Exercise

One of the most valuable things you can do for your health is to exercise on a regular basis. Exercise is so good for you because it gets the oxygenated blood moving around your system, and helps to flush out all those nasty toxins. It also builds muscles, something that can help raise your metabolic rate, as well as burn fat, and if that wasn’t enough, it also releases happy chemicals into your system that can improve your mood.

What this means is that if you are tempted to miss that next workout because you are feeling a little tired, don’t! Remember nearly everyone can exercise, as long as they check it out with their doctor beforehand, and they pick an acid that is suitable for their current condition. You can even get some ideas on how to exercise at https://greatist.com/fitness/workouts-perfect-for-any-fitness-level.

Get clued up on health care

Another way to value your health is to get as informed about any conditions you have and the care that you can expect to receive as possible. The reasons that this is so important is because not only can it help you navigate all your doctor’s appointments and push for the treatment that you think is best, but it can also help you be aware of anything that your medical team is suggesting that isn’t quite right.

After all, medical personally are only human, and they can make mistakes too. However, by being as clued up as possible at least, you can be aware if anything is going wrong and then you can take appropriate action.

Such action that may include querying their treatment plan, contacting a medical malpractice lawyer like the one you will find at https://tittlelawfirm.com/lawsuits/medical-malpractice/, or asking for a second opinion. After all, who is in a better position and more invested in looking after your health than you?

Mental health is as important as physical health

Lastly, you can value your health by looking after your mental wellbeing as well as the physical side of things. Of course, mental health can be more complicated, in some ways to deal with because you may not be aware that you have an issue or are unable to communicate this to the right people to get the help you need.

Remember though that health is a holistic concept that includes how we feel regarding mood and outlook as well as how well our bodies are functioning. Therefore, if you are concerned about your mental well-being, be sure to see an expert that can help you identify what you are going through and give you some strategies for coping with it.

Therefore, if you are concerned about your mental well-being, be sure to see an expert, like the specialists at The Independent Pharmacy, that can help you identify what you are going through and give you some strategies for coping with it.

You May Not Always Find Your Medication in Your Own Country

When a doctor prescribes you a certain course of medications, it’s always best to follow their advice. However, you may have trouble finding the exact medicine you require for a price that will fit comfortably within your budget. There are many reasons why this should, unfortunately, be the case. The local pharmacy you deal with may be out of this medication or the manufacturer may have jacked up the price considerably in response to rising demand. If this is the case, your options for finding this medication in your own country may become considerably slimmer.

If You Want the Best Price for Medicine, Look on the Web

The best way to get around the lack of affordable medication in your country is to make use of the world wide web. There are many cases in which you will be able to instantly locate the medication you need from a pharmacy in Canada. Of course, it’s probably not practical to drive 1,000 miles to this pharmacy to pick up what you need in person. But you don’t need to. All you have to do is make an account with a web pharmacy in Canada. Once you have done so, you can quickly and easily order the medications you need for a price that you can easily afford.

The Time to Establish an Online Pharmacy Account is Now

If you have been at a loss to find affordable medications in your country, the time to adopt the online alternative is now. You can usually find the medications that your doctor prescribes to you at a fraction of what they would cost in your own country. All you have to do is use your online account to order them. They will arrive in a few days and your healing process will begin. There is no time like the present to adopt this excellent new solution to the pressing problem of rising medication prices. It’s a win/win proposition for all parties involved.

BodyArmor Superior Hydration

Really like the overall idea, tone, and structure. Can we tweak the BODYARMOR messaging to include more info specifically on LYTE and SportWater? You can pull straight from the Campaign assets folder.
Also- please include photos.- Thanks!

I grew up playing softball, my father was the coach and we lived out at the ball field. I remember regardless of how hot or cold it was the only thing that matter to me was getting to play. So naturally, when I had two sons, I couldn’t wait until they were able to play ball. They started in little league originally and ventured to other sports from there. The one thing I realized really quickly was how hot it was out on the field and that they needed to stay hydrated.

I didn’t like the alternatives of the sports drink on the market, as most are artificially flavored and sweetened. I wanted something that not only included natural flavors and sweeteners but something they would enjoy and like to drink on a daily basis. BODYARMOR is the perfect sports drink, offering superior hydration and several flavors that my sons’ love.– Edited to include more BODYARMOR messaging. Feel free to tweak as you see fit!

They are all-natural sports drinks that hit the spot and have become my families favorite! We throw them in the cooler and head out to the ball field. The best part is I don’t have to worry about anyone getting too hot in this heat because BODYARMOR not only comes in a large variety of flavors to suit everyone but it is packed with electrolytes, coconut water, and vitamins and is low in sodium and high in potassium.

With the heat rising over 100 degrees it is so important to make sure all of the hydration needs are met, so many children can dehydrate without even realizing it. When it comes to organizing everything, I need for our sports outings, I pack BODYARMOR first and foremost. Even before their sports necessities. Keeping the kids hydrated during sporting events is my #1 priority, right up there with selecting all-natural products which are better for them.

This season, we are not only prepared but going to make sure we share all of the knowledge about these amazing drinks with our friends on the ball field!

Here are some great additions that will be added to their already awesome line of products!

Dementia: Understanding The Signs In Your Aging Parent

(image)

If you are worried that your aging parent has dementia, it is important to know some of the warning signs. They can be quite subtle at first, and it can be easy to mistake them for the signs of aging that we all go through. We can all walk into a room and forget why we went in there, for example. Still, the following are the symptoms you need to look out for.

  1. Short-term memory loss

Those who have dementia are often able to remember long-term memories, but when it comes to remembering what they had for breakfast, or what they watched on television an hour ago, their mind may suddenly draw a blank.

  1. Mood changes

These can be quite erratic, and it may be possible to see a shift in mood that is very different from the person’s personality. While this is also symptomatic of other illness, especially around depression, it is also symptomatic of dementia.

  1. Difficulty with words

We have all struggled to find the right word, especially when it is on the ‘tip of our tongue,’ but if this happens more often than not with your parent, you need to be on alert. If they are having a hard time expressing simple words, or are getting unusually tongue-tied in conversations they are normally proficient in, then you may recognise this as a sign of dementia.

  1. Struggling to complete tasks

If your parent struggles to take part in tasks that were normally easy for them, or if they suddenly stop an activity without any good reason, then these are possible early signs of dementia. They may also struggle to do complicated tasks that they were previously adept at, such as balancing their accounts or working out puzzles.

  1. Difficulty with names and faces

You have probably had this in your life – on meeting somebody who seems to recognize you, it may be a while before you remember that person’s name or face, especially if a long length of time has passed. This is normal, but if your elderly parent forgets names and faces of people close to them, then you need to take the situation seriously.

What should I do if I think my parent has dementia?

Don’t panic – The first thing to do is not panic. Your priority is looking after their needs, so carry on with life as normal. It will make your parent’s life harder if they see you in a state of emotional worry. We gave you some tips on making your parent’s life easier here, https://reviewsbykathy.com/taking-care-of-ageing-parents/, and that will serve them well in the short-term.

Seek medical advice – Your parent may not have dementia at all, but the signs may be symptomatic of other health conditions. Whatever the case, see a doctor and express your concerns. There is some advice here, https://www.healthline.com/health/dementia-doctors, with tips on how to approach a doctor, questions to ask, and what they will do to support you and your parent.

Think of the long-term – If your parent does have dementia, you will be unable to look after them on your own. You do need to think of your own needs, after all. There are healthcare services available to your parents, such as the folks here, https://spectrumhealthcare.com/SAIPC, who are better equipped than you are to deal with complex needs.

Finally

Remember, not every symptom we mentioned is indicative of dementia on its own, but if you do notice a culmination of symptoms, or if your parent expresses concern about their own wellbeing, follow the advice we suggested. It’s for your sake, as well as your aging parents.

Menthonol

This is a sponsored post, however, these are my own personal thoughts and opinions.

If you’re a mom, you understand the aches and pains that come with raising a kid. When you do more lifting in a day picking up your child than most hardcore lifters, you start to feel it. Especially when your son is nearly half your weight at three years old like mine. I feel it in my back, elbows, and hips from the constant lifting my big boy all day long. Combine that with the normal daily routine of being in the garden, cooking dinner, cleaning house and there’s rarely a joint or muscle that doesn’t hurt the next morning. I’m not a fan of taking tons of pain relief meds and I can’t afford the high price heating joint pads. Menthonol is the solution I found to cure my aches and pains that don’t cause pain to my pocketbooks.

Menthonol is a powerful pain relief cream with Seanol-S Arnica oil and Emu oil. You apply a small amount to the muscle and joints that hurt or to the areas that usually will be sore after activities a few times a day for fast-acting relief. I wake up and apply it to especially my back, elbows, and hips which usually soar from the previous day. Within just a couple minutes I immediately feel the relief. A bottle of Menthonol usually lasts over a month and at $34.95 that’s effectively a dollar a day for fast-acting, powerful pain relief.

It was so effective for my joint and muscle issues I suggested it to my dad who suffers from arthritis in his hands. He also noticed it’s immediate effects and is back to working in the barn on his projects, free from the pain that plagued him. If you’re a lifter, mechanic, gardener, or just someone who’s tired of being in pain, I highly suggest Menthonol.

HemRid Review

This is a sponsored post from tomoson.com, however, these are my own personal thoughts and opinions.

HemRid

Everyone deals with pains in their life. Back pain, knee pain, and headaches are just some of the most common. But a pain that I have been dealing with for some time now is a “rear-end” pain, or more commonly known as hemorrhoids. I noticed that while sitting one day that I was in extreme discomfort and that discomfort grew to a full on pain in my rear, literally. Hemorrhoids are when you’re your veins in your rectum flare up and become swollen. Under normal circumstances, it can happen when you strain during bowel movements but in my case, it came on after pregnancy. There’s nothing more irritating either than an itch that you can’t scratch because of the pain it causes. I tried the normal stuff of ointments, cold presses, and wet wipes but nothing seemed to relieve it fully. I really didn’t want to go to the doctor for a prescription, partially because of the money and partially because my doctor is also a close family friend, and I really didn’t want my business to be more than me, myself, and I. So, I went looking for a cost-effective, private way to deal with my personal issues and that brought me HemRid.

HemRid is an average size pill that you take once a day to relieve the itching, burning, and pain that is caused by hemorrhoids. I noticed relief from the horrible effects of hemorrhoids gives in just a couple days. Not only did I find relief fast, I noticed it lasted a long time. With this pill having a longtime effect, I won’t have to stress about getting any more hemorrhoids. However, if I happen to get one I know I can find fast relief for the pain in my rear with HemRid. #hemrid

Amwell Medical Doctor – Online

As most know I deal with chronic sinusitis daily. For years now I have had to deal with polyps and so far four sinus surgeries. After my 4th sinus surgery, I was introduced to ways to improve my chances of continually getting infections, such as flushing my sinus cavities out daily. In doing these measures I have better managed my condition, although every now and then they do still occur. Like recently, I noticed I was beginning to get stopped up again and regardless what steps I took I was unable to stop the inevitable, another sinus infection.

This week is not the best time for me to get sick, I seriously have no time to run to the doctor! I was so thrilled to find out about Amwell Medical Doctor online. I was able to jump online and within 20 minutes have a video meeting with the doctor and the best part….  have prescriptions called into my local pharmacist.

Then to top it all off, I found out they take my insurance! I am super excited, I can get seen quickly, pay only my deductible and never miss a beat.

I chose to use my laptop, although you can use a tablet or even your phone. I signed in, filled out the information, which was WAY shorter than all of the information you have to fill out at the doctor’s office and clicked on what services I needed.

I was given a step by step instruction screen of how to download and launch the video page. After that you wait for your turn, mine only took about 15 minutes and then my visit started. The physician was thorough asking me about my prior issues then asking me all about my symptoms. What is Balloon Sinuplasty?

Chronic sinusitis is the repeated inflammation of the sinuses. Inflamed sinuses can’t drain mucus properly, so they cause pain, pressure, headaches, and difficulty breathing. If you have chronic sinusitis, you may have tried multiple medications or other treatments with no luck. When medications don’t work, many doctors recommend a balloon sinuplasty.

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally-invasive procedure, so there are no incisions and no removal of bone or tissue. The treatment permanently opens up your sinuses, which lets them drain properly and makes it easier to breathe.

Balloon sinuplasty is a good option for most people with chronic sinusitis. If you’re considering undergoing the procedure, you should understand how the procedure works and who can benefit from it. This will help you make an informed decision when choosing your best treatment option.

How Balloon Sinuplasty Works

Most people are under general anesthesia during the balloon sinuplasty procedure. Some ENT doctors perform the surgery in their office with local anesthesia. During your consultation, you and your doctor will decide on the best option for your surgery.

Your doctor will use a sinus-illumination system to light up the area, which will help them with accuracy. A small balloon catheter will be inserted through your nostril and will travel to the opening of your sinus. Then, the balloon will be inflated, which will open up your blocked sinuses.

Once your sinuses have opened up completely, your doctor will insert an irrigation catheter into your sinuses. This catheter will allow your doctor to clean out your sinuses with a saline solution. Then, all the fluid and mucus will be drained from your inflamed sinuses.

When the balloon catheter is removed, your sinuses will stay open. The procedure gently reconfigures your nasal bone structure, which will let your sinuses drain normally. Mucus will no longer build up in your nose and cause irritation and inflammation.

The entire procedure usually takes an hour or slightly longer. You won’t have to stay overnight in the hospital unless there were complications, which is rare. It takes about two days to recover and return to your normal daily activities. Some pain or sinus pressure is normal for a few days, and you can control it with acetaminophen. Your doctor will advise you not to take NSAIDS like aspirin or ibuprofen, though, because they can cause excessive bleeding. Congestion is normal while you recover, too, but you should start to breathe normally after two or three weeks.

Most people don’t need repeat procedures to maintain the results. Once your sinuses are open, they’ll likely stay open. However, people with severe sinusitis may need an occasional repeat procedure to prevent the condition from coming back.

Benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty

For many people, balloon sinuplasty is preferable to traditional sinus surgeries. It’s approved by the FDA and can be performed on adults and children. The procedure has a very high success rate, and most people achieve permanent results with just one procedure.

A balloon sinuplasty is less invasive than traditional procedures, so there’s less risk of developing complications. Your doctor doesn’t make any incisions during the procedure, so there’s a very low risk of bleeding or infection. A balloon sinuplasty won’t damage the surrounding tissue, and it won’t leave any scars.

Because the surgery is minimally invasive, the recovery time is short and easy. Compared to a traditional sinus surgery, you’ll take less time off of work or off of your daily activities. You’ll also probably experience less pain and discomfort.

Candidates for Balloon Sinuplasty

Candidates for balloon sinuplasty experience chronic sinus infections and haven’t had luck treating the infections with medication. The sinusitis causes frustrating symptoms like headaches, congestion, coughing, and fatigue.

Children and adults can both undergo a balloon sinuplasty procedure. Your doctor will make sure that you have no other medical conditions that could increase your risk of complications. However, most people with chronic sinusitis are good candidates for the procedure.

There are some sinus conditions that cannot be treated with a balloon sinuplasty. If you have serious scarring in your sinuses, you probably won’t be a candidate for the procedure. Nasal polyps, which are growths along the sinuses or nasal passages, also may disqualify you from receiving a balloon sinuplasty. The surgery cannot treat ethmoid sinusitis, which is an infection of the sinuses near the bridge of the nose.

Disconnecting Emotion From Your Everyday Life

Human beings were once a rather primitive being, one that only focused on the necessities of life. Looking at us now you might think that we’ve come a long way. Actually, we’re going backward in a way. Society has taught us from the beginning of childhood that your emotions are natural and you should let them out. However, the mark of a truly centered creature is to be at one with controlling your emotions. Letting them out is very broad and could mean different things to different people. We should all be asking ourselves whether we’re being overly emotional or not. Too much emotion will cloud your judgment and even bring you to a point where you’re controlled by them. They’re a first reaction point, not a conclusion. It’s much easier said than done to command your emotions at will because in truth they are a series of chemical reactions. Rather than trying to sling a muzzle guard over them, it’s far better to understand how you can coexist with them.

Adapting to our own pace

Part of the reason why we get flustered and so willing to let out our anger is that the world around us is doing the same too. Being ruled by your surroundings comes out in the form of being overly reactionary. A persistent, strong but subtle reaction to the actions going on around you will help you to remain centered. Listening to your subconscious voice as in the teachings of Ilchi Lee will give you a clearer aiming point of what can be achieved. Connecting the brain and heart are one of the methods he uses to cut away the middleman we self-impose. The Tao energy principles he imparts helps one to adapt to the modern world. The world is so fast and busy, and people are consumed by making sure they’re moving at the same pace as others. This is a farce and should be discarded straight away.

Meditation isn’t supernatural

Far from what you may see or hear in the media, meditation isn’t a supernatural experience. It’s actually well within the realms of science. Sitting still, in silence or with relaxing music is about slowing down. It helps you to formulate your thoughts, figure out what you really want, listing the priorities in your life and at a lower level controlling your physical being. You won’t be transported to some kind of heaven or connect with a deity of some sort. However, you’ll find out more about yourself and truly focus on what you want. With so many pressures in the world, just simply sitting still with your eyes closed can being a much-needed relief. Meditation shows how great the simple things in life are and that not everything revolves around living for others.

No one is saying that emotions don’t matter or that you should ignore them. Love and anger may at the opposite ends of the spectrum, but they’re linked and can quite happily switch positions in our lives. Disconnecting your emotions from the surrounding world will support your logical mind to react in a calculated and calm manner.

My friend got a boob job and I am soooooo jealous! List of why I shouldn’t!!

Okay, so my whole life I have been what you call… “well endowed” up top, thanks, mom…. I have always dreamed of a reduction and willing to give the excess away. But those dreams have never amounted to me having the courage or time to actually do this. BUT… today my friend had hers done. She considered herself “NOT well endowed” and decided after a recent divorce to do something about it.

Now I can admit I am a little jealous of her courage and ability to do this but I have decided to write a list of why this is not a good idea….  This list was difficult since I really, really want to get mine jacked up and reduced.

  1. Financial reasons, this is a huge cost and I would hate to spend that kind of money on myself. I am a believer to be happy with what God gave me.!
  2. Pain, I am a big baby when it comes to doing anything that will cause pain to my body!
  3. Loss of feeling, so I have heard that if you do get “them” done you lose feeling, that would suck.
  4. Risk of cancer, cancer is harder to detect if you have them done.
  5. Lastly, you would have to buy all new bras and clothes!! She had to borrow some of my shirts because her’s will be too small!!

Okay, so I feel a little better, not only do I hope my friend’s turn out perfect, I hope they are everything she wanted and will be happy with. In the meantime, I will keep enjoying my overabundance and work on losing weight.  I may be able to reduce my excess this way.

I will set goals this year, like lose weight, and once I meet a certain target reexamine if I really want to do this to myself. In the meantime, I can decide if any of the above reasons will prevent me from having this procedure done.

Refreshing Your Mind In 2018

Pexels

When it comes to the new year, many people create new goals. The phrase ‘new year, new me!’ while clichéd comes from a genuine feeling. People often feel that the year they have just lived could have used some form of improvement. Even the best will in the world will not guarantee that your previous year was successful on all fronts. Sure your business exploded in popularity and revenue streams, but did you shift that extra 10lbs of fat you once promised yourself? Sure, you might have made more friends than ever before, but did you cross anything off your bucket list?

Often we hold ourselves to too high a standard. We need to manage our energies as people in order to stay able, and we can’t achieve everything in that time frame. We’d argue that a better way of looking at the new year is instead of focusing on your goals, you should focus on refreshing your mind.

What does this mean? Well, this article intends to find out:

Challenge

Refreshing your mind often means taking part in objectives and activities which make you remember who you are, and what your original goals were. In a comfortable life, it can be easy to forget the goals we so wanted to achieve even a year ago. With the right form of challenge, you will once again be able to define yourself and come back to the real you. For example, do you wish to learn a new language? How about keeping your room tidy all year?

Now, these sound very similar to the aforementioned goals, but we’d say there’s a slight difference here. A goal, while excellent and important to keep, might not challenge you too much. It could be getting in a normal (yet positive) gym routine, aided by learning how your favorite athletes managed to achieve through resources like this http://aretheyonsteroids.com/legal-steroids/.

Challenge on the other hand, is something we train for. It’s something we must always keep in order to feel normal throughout the day. A goal is something that can end. A challenge is something we must embark on every day to keep honed. Keeping your writing skills sharp, for example, or publishing two well thought out blog posts a day. Add challenge to your life, and you can trust us when we say your entire week will be imbued with a rejuvenation of purpose and clarity.

New Social Adventures

We’d like to draw another disconnect. While there is some challenge in goal setting, and some goal setting in a challenge, they’re not exactly the same thing. Just like this, socializing, and heading out on social adventures are very different. Socializing might mean relaxing with a few glasses of wine at a bar on a Friday night. This is pleasant yes, and is needed to sometimes reduce stress and have a fun time. A social adventure is much different than this. A social adventure promises to experience something new with a novel or close friend.

For example, taking your friend and vacationing to an extreme sports resort (such as black slope skiing or mountain hiking,) will give you an unforgettable experience. Not only will it be stimulating and exciting, but it will also be shared and be prepared with an amazing backpack!!

Everyone tends to view their life in milestones, not strict timelines. While you might not think this is true, just chart the path of your life mentally for a second. It’s likely that you refer to dates by their import, not their strict technical time. For example, the birth of your child is likely to be remembered as just that, not the 28th of February 2001. With this in mind then, you could see the importance of heading on social adventures. They serve as new milestones in your life because there is simply no way you can forget them.

In the effort to refresh your mind then, nothing could be more important.

Meditation

Sometimes refreshing your mind is not underpinned by action. Sometimes it’s basis is quiet reflection, reflection which allows for a calm and spiritual method of coming into the present moment. Using a meditation technique such as Vipassana could yield you some wonderful results, as it helps you detune from your rumination and strange cognitive thought patterns. If you’ve experienced a stressful year in 2017, this could serve as a necessary cognitive cleanser.

SImple sit down in a comfortable position (or lie down if you trust yourself to stay awake,) close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. Specifically, the air passing in and out through your nostrils. If you can, focus on just the one spot, as this will help you focus. Now, slowly breath at a rate which is comfortable for you. The first thing you’ll notice is that your mind often wanders. It’s difficult to control this, and doing so is the opposite of the intended effect here.

A good way to picture this is to imagine yourself sitting at the side of a road. When cars pass on the highway (your thoughts,) you see them but you don’t try to take hold of every single one. You just let them pass, and let the next one come along. Take this attitude to your thoughts. If you witness them, letting your breath serve as the focus anchor, slowly they begin to settle down and quiet.

If you repeat this for incrementally increasing periods of time, but starting with ten-minute sessions, you’ll find your entire body beginning to relax. You will finish your sessions with a mental clarity you might not have thought possible before. This feeling can truly help you add a renewed sense of relaxation to your day.

This is not superficial. More and more people are starting to realize the wisdom of the ancients and understand how this development can lead to a more complete and wholesome person. As you progress in time, your ability to handle your ego and fear are much improved, perfect if you suffer socially or have issues with anxiety.

With these tips, your year of 2018 is likely to be the best you’ve ever had. We wish you the best of luck in your efforts.

This time of year is usually a mixed emotional time for my family. Two years ago in December, we lost our grandmother to cancer. The year before that we lost our aunt to cancer. Our grandmother didn’t even realize she had cancer until she was diagnosed with stage 4. She lived about 6 months before she passed. I watched her go through chemo and radiation. She slowly lost her fight. After I told my family about a friend of mine who chose alternative cancer treatment and how her cancer is now undetectable, my mother, sisters and I decided we are going to learn all we can about living cancer free.

The old saying that knowledge is power is so true. We mourn the loss of both my grandmother and aunt but are so happy to know we are educated enough to fight this disease if it continues to attack our family. If you or a loved one are fighting this ugly disease you need to read this story about Peggy.  It is not only such an inspiring story but so educational. You do have alternatives and never ever have to give up. You see Peggy was sent home to die, just like my grandmother, yet instead, Peggy decided to educate herself and fight cancer naturally. Now 10 years later she has had no signs of cancer.  I wish I had been this informed when we learned about my grandmother’s diagnosis.

The Cancer Free Living site offers so much information, you can learn foods to eat, habits and symptoms. You can never be too careful. I go once a year to get my mammogram and to be checked, so far we are doing what is needed to prevent this ugly disease from visiting our family again!!

Protecting Your Senses This Christmas

As we approach Christmas and New Year, the festivities are running high and the world becomes infused with gingerbread, cloves, flickering lights, fireworks and everything that you can imagine can be linked to Christmas. It’s wonderful and magical but can also have a detrimental effect on your health. And we’re not talking about the extra pounds everyone puts on over the holidays. But these issues can be easily prevented without them putting a damper on the holiday fun.

Sight

With the millions of lights suddenly adorning every street, store, house front, and tree it’s an assault on the eyes. You might think that eating dinner by the light of your Christmas tree is romantic and full of Christmas spirit, but you’re actually straining your eyes to focus on what’s in front of you. The same when you light candles and try to see by that light alone. Use lamps and the big light in a room to alleviate the pressure on your eyes to see in the dark.

Hearing

Apart from having to listen to the same bunch of Christmas songs since the first of November, the main thing to worry about is the fireworks. From Christmas Eve and onwards people love to keep the celebrations going by letting off fireworks every evening. And where

they aren’t much of an issue now and again, the constant barrage is enough to damage healthy ears, let alone those who already have damaged ears – which occurs more in the elderly. Hearing protection is simple enough in this instance; earplugs. You will still be able to hear the fireworks but dimmed enough to protect the delicate works of your inner ear.

Feel

Feeling can only be lost through nerve damage, which, usually, can only be damaged by extreme circumstances, but it can be temporarily damaged easily in the cold weather. Where it takes an extremely low temperature to cause instant frostbite, and people think that it only happens at the north pole, it can be developed within more habitable places like the UK, Russia and Northern parts of the US. The more you are exposed to the cold, the more the danger of frostbite grows. Which can cause irreversible nerve damage and cause you to lose feeling. Prevent this by wearing the right clothes out in the cold – don’t choose fashion over function. And by limiting the time you expose yourself to the cold weather.

The protection of your senses can be as simple as thinking things through. Like wearing a coat designed to withstand the cold, rather than layering a jacket with a jumper and hoping for the best. By giving your ears a break from the relentless booming of the celebratory fireworks. And by turning the lights up when necessary instead of straining your eyes in the attempt to be more festive.
