What is Balloon Sinuplasty?

Chronic sinusitis is the repeated inflammation of the sinuses. Inflamed sinuses can’t drain mucus properly, so they cause pain, pressure, headaches, and difficulty breathing. If you have chronic sinusitis, you may have tried multiple medications or other treatments with no luck. When medications don’t work, many doctors recommend a balloon sinuplasty.

 

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally-invasive procedure, so there are no incisions and no removal of bone or tissue. The treatment permanently opens up your sinuses, which lets them drain properly and makes it easier to breathe.

 

Balloon sinuplasty is a good option for most people with chronic sinusitis. If you’re considering undergoing the procedure, you should understand how the procedure works and who can benefit from it. This will help you make an informed decision when choosing your best treatment option.

 

How Balloon Sinuplasty Works

When the balloon catheter is removed, your sinuses will stay open. The procedure gently reconfigures your nasal bone structure, which will let your sinuses drain normally. Mucus will no longer build up in your nose and cause irritation and inflammation.

 

The entire procedure usually takes an hour or slightly longer. You won’t have to stay overnight in the hospital unless there were complications, which is rare. It takes about two days to recover and return to your normal daily activities. Some pain or sinus pressure is normal for a few days, and you can control it with acetaminophen. Your doctor will advise you not to take NSAIDS like aspirin or ibuprofen, though, because they can cause excessive bleeding. Congestion is normal while you recover, too, but you should start to breathe normally after two or three weeks.

 

Most people don’t need repeat procedures to maintain the results. Once your sinuses are open, they’ll likely stay open. However, people with severe sinusitis may need an occasional repeat procedure to prevent the condition from coming back.

For many people, balloon sinuplasty is preferable to traditional sinus surgeries. It’s approved by the FDA and can be performed on adults and children. The procedure has a very high success rate, and most people achieve permanent results with just one procedure.

Scented laundry detergent contains a vast array of chemicals and cleaning agents. While you may think these compounds are mostly washed away during the rinse cycle, think again. Harsh chemicals bury themselves in fabric, which pose a serious risk during the healing process.

 

Before treatment, rewash all pillowcases, sheets, clothing and towels in all-natural, unscented detergent. Never use towels, or other fabrics, to touch your face that haven’t been cleansed from standard detergent residue.

 

 

Tap Water

 

Because freshly treated areas commonly feel hot, much like a sunburn, you may think spritzing your face with water is a safe alternative to ointments and creams. Unfortunately, tap water is filled with various chemicals capable of causing further irritation.

 

Skip the tap water and cool your face with distilled or spring water. However, only apply fine mist of water during the first day after treatment. You don’t want to soak your skin as this can disrupt the delicate healing process that occurs during the first 24 hours.

 

 

Standard Face Washes or Soap

 

During the first three days, bathing or showering in hot water isn’t recommended as you need to minimize sweating during this crucial time. However, what about washing your face? Your cosmetic practitioner will inform you when you can start washing your face, but it’s generally recommended to avoid washing your face with or without cleansers for 12 to 24 hours.

 

For the first several days, you may be directed to avoid any non-natural face wash or soap. This includes astringents, benzoyl peroxide scrubs or prescription acne solutions.

 

 

Makeup of Any Kind

Part of the reason why we get flustered and so willing to let out our anger is that the world around us is doing the same too. Being ruled by your surroundings comes out in the form of being overly reactionary. A persistent, strong but subtle reaction to the actions going on around you will help you to remain centered. Listening to your subconscious voice as in the teachings of Ilchi Lee will give you a clearer aiming point of what can be achieved. Connecting the brain and heart are one of the methods he uses to cut away the middleman we self-impose. The Tao energy principles he imparts helps one to adapt to the modern world. The world is so fast and busy, and people are consumed by making sure they’re moving at the same pace as others. This is a farce and should be discarded straight away.

Meditation isn’t supernatural

 

Far from what you may see or hear in the media, meditation isn’t a supernatural experience. It’s actually well within the realms of science. Sitting still, in silence or with relaxing music is about slowing down. It helps you to formulate your thoughts, figure out what you really want, listing the priorities in your life and at a lower level controlling your physical being. You won’t be transported to some kind of heaven or connect with a deity of some sort. However, you’ll find out more about yourself and truly focus on what you want. With so many pressures in the world, just simply sitting still with your eyes closed can being a much-needed relief. Meditation shows how great the simple things in life are and that not everything revolves around living for others.

 

No one is saying that emotions don’t matter or that you should ignore them. Love and anger may at the opposite ends of the spectrum, but they’re linked and can quite happily switch positions in our lives. Disconnecting your emotions from the surrounding world will support your logical mind to react in a calculated and calm manner.

My friend got a boob job and I am soooooo jealous! List of why I shouldn’t!!

Okay, so my whole life I have been what you call… “well endowed” up top, thanks, mom…. I have always dreamed of a reduction and willing to give the excess away. But those dreams have never amounted to me having the courage or time to actually do this. BUT… today my friend had hers done. She considered herself “NOT well endowed” and decided after a recent divorce to do something about it.

Now I can admit I am a little jealous of her courage and ability to do this but I have decided to write a list of why this is not a good idea….  This list was difficult since I really, really want to get mine jacked up and reduced.

  1. Financial reasons, this is a huge cost and I would hate to spend that kind of money on myself. I am a believer to be happy with what God gave me.!
  2. Pain, I am a big baby when it comes to doing anything that will cause pain to my body!
  3. Loss of feeling, so I have heard that if you do get “them” done you lose feeling, that would suck.
  4. Risk of cancer, cancer is harder to detect if you have them done.
  5. Lastly, you would have to buy all new bras and clothes!! She had to borrow some of my shirts because her’s will be too small!!

Okay, so I feel a little better, not only do I hope my friend’s turn out perfect, I hope they are everything she wanted and will be happy with. In the meantime, I will keep enjoying my overabundance and work on losing weight.  I may be able to reduce my excess this way.

I will set goals this year, like lose weight, and once I meet a certain target reexamine if I really want to do this to myself. In the meantime, I can decide if any of the above reasons will prevent me from having this procedure done.
