Brighten The Home With These Five Tips. January and February are often such slogs to get through. Depending on where you are in the world, they’re the coldest months of the year and while you know that you have vacations and days out planned to look forward to, you really need something bright and sunshiney in life right now.
Making your home look brighter can depend on what you need to do with your home in the first place. For example, you may be currently researching companies to contact about getting new windows, or you may decide that a lick of paint is still a great idea. Either way, while we are still living in colder temperatures, it can really help to alleviate those winter blues by making the home as bright as possible. Here are five ways you can do just that.
Add Window Treatments
You may not have many plans to replace the windows entirely, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t dress them up. Think about adding curtains or blinds (or both!) and a valance across the top. The brighter the colors, the better! Your window treatments can brighten up the whole space and give the room personality that you didn’t know you could give it.
Add Flowers
Spring is right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t breathe a little life into the space with a vase or two of fresh flowers. You want to have plants that reflect how you feel, so find the brightest blooms and cut the stems short so that you can focus on just the bloom. They perk up the home, so indulge in more than one room!
Art Additions
You don’t have to be a connoisseur of art to know what a good print looks like. There are so many options in the brightest of colors that you can get mounted in the home, and you can do it in more than one room. If you’re strapped for cash, don’t worry – it doesn’t have to be an expensive investment. Plenty of prints aren’t the real deal, and they still look good!
A Statement Piece
Do you know that dreary old hallway table you’ve had for years? Why not give it a lick of bright paint to add a shock of color to the entrance hall? You can dispense with the brown furniture and choose a color that will look good and really draw the eye from the moment that people walk through the door.
Hang New Mirrors
Smaller rooms and spaces in the home can really benefit from mirrors being hung up. You can open the entire room with the right mirrors, and they don’t have to be static over-the-mantelpiece mirrors either. You can have full-length mirror tiles if you want, or you can go for a mosaic mirror pattern in the bathroom.
Brightening the home in the winter months can make all the difference to the way that you feel and the way that your home looks. Try these ideas first!
